Lourdes held an 11-point lead midway through Thursday evening's dual match inside the Merillat Sports and Fitness Center in Adrian, Mich., but Adrian rallied with wins in the final five bouts to defeat the Gray Wolves 30-17.

"Unfortunately, a few wrestlers came out flat, which resulted in them wrestling sluggish," head coach
Dock Kelly III said after the match. "We must be committed to training at a higher level in order to achieve success on nights like tonight."

The Gray Wolves came out quick, with
Ray Porter (Strongsville, Ohio/Strongsville H.S.) registering a 20-5 technical fall late in the third period of his 125-pound bout to give Lourdes the early lead.

After the Bulldogs answered with a win by decision at 133 pounds,
Nick Henneman (Oregon, Ohio/Clay H.S.) showed why he's the top-ranked wrester at 141 pounds in the NAIA, recording a fall at the 2:27 mark of the opening period.

Two bouts later,
Garret Anderson (Oregon, Ohio/Clay H.S.) added a fall of his own at the end of the first period of his 157-pound match, giving Lourdes a 17-6 advantage in the match.

Adrian (8-2) responded, registering three pins and two more wins by decision in the second half of the contest to snap the Gray Wolves' five-match winning streak.

"We have a short turnaround before we compete again on Saturday, but I'm optimistic that we will be ready to perform at a higher level than tonight," Kelly concluded.

Lourdes (5-2), ranked 12
th in NAIA, will head to New Philadelphia, Ohio for a tri-match hosted by Kent State-Tuscarawas. The Gray Wolves will face Ohio Valley at noon before battling the host Golden Eagles at 1:30 p.m. inside of Founders Hall Gymnasium.
