Lourdes finished its weekend action in the Lindenwood Invitational on Sunday afternoon with a 25-20, 22-25, 35-33, 25-13 victory over Quincy inside of Hyland Arena in Saint Charles, Mo.

"The team as a whole played very sound volleyball today," head coach Greg Reitz said afterwards.  "We faced a bigger block than we have seen and battled well."

The Gray Wolves hit .320 for the match while holding the NCAA Division II Hawks to a .159 hitting mark.

Lourdes fell behind early in the opening set and trailed until the midway mark when an 8-0 run off the serve of Ricardo Gehrke (Blumenau, Brazil/Escola Barao Do Rio Branco H.S.) put the Gray Wolves in front 17-13 on the way to the victory.  Lourdes hit .429 with 15 kills in the set.

Quincy (4-6) evened the match, winning set two which featured 13 ties.  The Hawks broke the final stalemate at 21-21 with three consecutive points to take the lead for good.

The third set was a marathon.  Lourdes scored the first five points before Quincy responded, tying things up at 11.  The Hawks then built a lead of their own, 21-17, before the Gray Wolves fought back with five straight points, eventually forcing the set into extra points.  Lourdes needed nine set points before finally pulling out the win.

The Gray Wolves cruised in the fourth set, hitting .476 while forcing Quincy into 13 attack errors and a -.194 hitting percentage.  Lourdes built an early 10-3 lead and went on a late 7-0 run to secure the victory.
