Lourdes Closes Road Trip with Sweep at Cardinal Stritch

Lourdes closed out a five-match road trip on Saturday afternoon with a sweep of Cardinal Stritch 25-15, 26-24, 25-17 inside of Shorewood High School in Milwaukee, Wis.
 
The fourth-ranked Gray Wolves hit .314 for the night with 40 kills in the three sets while limiting the Wolves to just a .123 attack percentage, forcing 17 errors from the hosts.
 
"This was another solid road win for us," head coach Greg Reitz said following the match.  "We did not pass our best, but we were still able to hit efficiently.  Our serving was pretty good today."
 
Lourdes never trailed in the opening set, hitting a blistering .423 with 13 kills.  The Gray Wolves jumped out to a 12-2 lead in building the early lead in the match.
 
There were nine ties and three lead changes in the second set.  Lourdes fought off a set point at 24-23 before scoring the final three points to take a 2-0 lead in the match. 
 
The Gray Wolves held Cardinal Stritch to -.040 hitting and just five kills in the final set in completing the sweep.  Lourdes had runs of 5-0 and 4-0 in the stanza to pull away.
 
Evan Gebert (Fort Wayne, Ind./Snider H.S.) led Lourdes offensively with 15 kills, hitting .481 while Ricardo Gehrke (Blumenau, Brazil/Escola Barao Do Rio Branco H.S.) added 10 kills, swinging at a .533 clip.  He also had a team-high nine digs defensively.  Henrique Gehrke (Blumenau, Brazil/Escola Barao Do Rio Branco H.S.) handed out 33 assists while directing the offense.
 
Felipe Mello Oliveira led Cardinal Stritch (1-7) with nine kills, hitting .300 for the match, while adding a match-high 12 digs defensively.
 
Lourdes (7-2) returns home on Wednesday evening to resume Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play, hosting Lawrence Tech.  The opening serve is set for 7 p.m. inside of the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.
