Upcoming in Gray Wolves Volleyball: The home stretch of the 2019 regular season begins this week with Lourdes looking to secure the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference regular season title.  The Gray Wolves entertain Goshen on Wednesday evening before playing their road finale on Friday evening at Aquinas in a battle of the top two teams in the league.

On the Air: Wednesday's match against Goshen will be broadcast live on BCSN as part of Buckeye Broadband.  In addition, BCSN will re-air the match Thursday at 9:30 a.m.  In addition, BCSN2 will show the match Thursday at 8:30 p.m., and Friday at 4:30 p.m.

Head Coach Greg Reitz: In his eighth season both on the Lourdes bench, and overall coaching men's volleyball, Greg Reitz has a 151-62 (.709) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves.  He has earned five conference Coach of the Year honors during his first seven seasons at Lourdes.  He is the only head coach in program history.

Series Notes: Lourdes won the only previous meeting against Goshen in straight sets, 25-15, 25-22, 25-20 on Jan. 22 in the 2019 season opener held in Goshen, Ind.  The Maple Leafs are making their first trip to Sylvania on Wednesday.  The Gray Wolves are also 1-0 all-time against Aquinas, downing the Saints in four sets, 25-17, 15-25, 25-19, 25-16 in the Ebeid Rec Center on March 1.  This will be Lourdes first visit to Grand Rapids, Mich.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes began its Carolina swing of four matches in four days on Sunday with a 25-21, 25-18, 20-25, 22-25, 15-11 victory at Saint Andrews.  Jeff Lam had 13 kills to lead the offense.  Monday, the Gray Wolves rallied for a 22-25, 17-25, 25-17, 25-17, 15-10 triumph at Belmont Abbey.  Lam and Matheus Andrade each had 16 kills, with Andrade hitting .480.  Tuesday evening saw the Gray Wolves score a 25-20, 25-15, 25-12 sweep at Erskine.  Lam put down 13 kills and added six aces as Lourdes extended its winning streak to 11 consecutive matches.  The streak ended on Wednesday with a 25-27, 15-25, 25-23, 25-16, 15-8 setback at Limestone.  Lam notched a double-double with career highs of 23 kills and 11 digs.

Scouting Goshen: The Maple Leafs went 2-2 last weekend at the Siena Heights tournament, downing Thomas More and Cumberland (Tenn.) while falling to Morningside and the host Saints.  Alexander Rabadzhiev leads the first year program with 309 kills, is hitting .195, and has 25 service aces while Michael Wahl has handed out 409 assists.  Defensively, Rabadzhiev also leads the team with 141 digs while Andy Bennett has registered 56 blocks.

Scouting Aquinas: The Saints have won six consecutive matches since their lone loss to Lourdes back on March 1.  Aquinas enters the week following a four-set win over Saint Katherine on March 11, and plays at Olivet on Wednesday prior to hosting the Gray Wolves.  Zane Moothart leads Aquinas with 223 kills and is hitting .302 while Colby Elder has handed out 831 assists.  Joshua Boothroyd is the Saints' leader with 35 service aces.  Defensively, Josh Evers has tallied 210 digs while Will Donald has 60 total blocks.

Closing in on a WHAC Title: With just three Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference matches remaining on the schedule, the Gray Wolves have the opportunity to clinch the league this week.  With two victories, Lourdes will capture the WHAC crown in the first year the conference is sponsoring the sport.  In addition, the regular season champion also will host the league tournament April 5-6.

Lam Named WHAC Attacker of the Week: Jeff Lam garnered his first career WHAC Attacker of the Week accolade for his efforts in three matches on the Gray Wolves' spring trip.  The sophomore averaged 4.00 kills and 1.92 digs per set for the Gray Wolves against Belmont Abbey, Erskine, and Limestone.  In addition, he recorded 10 service aces and hit .347.

Surpassing 150: Lourdes won its 150th match all-time since the program was founded in 2012 on March 11 in the five-set triumph over Belmont Abbey.  Head coach Greg Reitz has been on the bench for all 151 triumphs in program history.  The Gray Wolves have won more than 70% of their contests all-time.

Going the Distance: After not having played a five-set match since April 17, 2018 in the first match of last year's NAIA National Invitational, Lourdes played three in a four-day span last week in the Carolinas.  The Gray Wolves won their first two five setters before falling at Limestone to conclude the trip.

Shifting Roles: Matheus Andrade has played libero most of the season for the Gray Wolves, but moved to an outside role last week with a great deal of success.  He had 10 digs to begin the trip at Saint Andrews as the libero before moving mid-match against Belmont Abbey, finishing with 16 kills and seven digs.  Finishing the week on the outside, Andrade had five kills at Erskine and 16 more at Limestone.

Record Book Watch: Evan Gebert has moved into second place on the school's career kills list with 838.  He only trails Frank Craig's (2012-2015) 1,002 kills.  Gebert also has moved into third all-time with 56 service aces, six fewer than second place Eric Ubior (2015-2018).  In just his second season, Henrique Gehrke has moved into second all-time with 1,329 career assists.  He trails just Ryan Ferkel's (2014-2017) 2,282 assists.  Brendan Brown is second all-time with 279 career blocks, trailing only Craig's career total of 315.

This and That: Lourdes has not been swept in a match since Feb. 23, 2018 against UC Merced, a span of 32 matches ... the current 11-match winning streak that was snapped at Limestone was the second longest in program history behind the 12-match streak in 2016.
