Second-ranked Lourdes remained unbeaten all-time against Lawrence Tech on Wednesday evening with a 25-19, 25-16, 24-26, 26-24 victory over the Blue Devils inside of Ridler Field House in Southfield, Mich. to extend the Gray Wolves' winning streak to eight consecutive matches.

"We hit very efficiently most of the night, but struggled from the service line," head coach
Greg Reitz said afterwards. "We had to battle, but were able to come away with the win."

Lourdes hit .290 in the opening set while limiting the hosts to just five kills in taking the early lead in the match. A 5-1 Gray Wolf run put Lourdes in front for good, 13-9, and the visitors were able to overcome eight first set service errors to win the set.

In set two, Lourdes hit a blistering .474 while holding the Blue Devils to .000 hitting, forcing eight attack errors from Lawrence Tech. The Gray Wolves used an early 8-1 run to forge a 10-3 lead and never looked back, taking a two-set advantage.

Trailing 18-12 in set three, Lourdes battled back and had a set point at 24-23, only to be denied. The Blue Devils scored the final three points to extend the match to a fourth set. Lourdes had 16 kills and hit .345 in the stanza, only to be denied the sweep.

Lawrence Tech raced out to an 8-3 lead in the fourth before a 7-3 Lourdes run tied the set at 12. The Gray Wolves took a 23-20 lead only for the Blue Devils to fight back, forcing extra points before Lourdes prevailed.

Evan Gebert (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll H.S.) led Lourdes with 16 kills and 10 digs for a double-double while
Stefan Albrecht (Euclid, Ohio/Middletown [Wis.] H.S.) added 15 kills.Â
Jeff Lam (Richmond, B.C./Hugh McRoberts H.S.) added 14 kills while hitting .600.Â

Calvin Ooms led Lawrence Tech (10-12, 2-5 WHAC) with 12 kills.

Lourdes (12-2, 5-0) continues its five-match road trip on Sunday evening, as the Gray Wolves travel to Laurinburg, N.C. to face Saint Andrews. The opening serve is set for 7 p.m. at Harris Court.
