After more than 100 minutes of scoreless soccer on Tuesday evening, Taylor scored the match's lone goal for a 1-0 double-overtime victory, spoiling Lourdes' season opener at Turner Stadium in Upland, Ind.

Following a Lourdes follow 25 yards out on the right side, Quinn Partain took a quick restart and found the back of the net with 6:53 remaining in the second extra stanza to hand the Gray Wolves' their first season-opening defeat in program history.

"It was a frustrating way to lose, but I thought we did some good things today," head coach
Matt Johnson said following his debut on the Lourdes bench. "This is a game we will look to build from."

The Gray Wolves held a narrow 5-4 shot advantage after the opening half before firing 10 of the 12 total shot attempts between the two teams in the second 45 minutes.Â
Ben Noud (Novi, Mich./Novi H.S.) may have had Lourdes best scoring opportunity with about 15 minutes to play before intermission, but his shot hit the post.

Jared Poslaiko (Woodhaven, Mich./Carlson H.S.) had a chance to put Lourdes in front with less than 10 minutes remaining in regulation, only to be turned aside by Trojan goalkeeper Luke Williams, who made a pair of stops to earn the shutout.

Lourdes continued to put the pressure on late, earning a pair of corner kick opportunities in the final minute of the second half, but could not connect for a goal. The Gray Wolves had six total corner chances in the second stanza.

Early in the first overtime, Taylor (2-0) had a chance to win, but
Brendon Long (Cave Creek, Ariz./Cactus Shadows H.S.) made a solid save off the line from his defender position to keep the match scoreless, ultimately leading to the second overtime period.

For the match Lourdes outshot Taylor 16-10, but the Trojans held a 5-2 advantage on goal.Â
Jorge Mendoza (Houston, Texas/Houston Heights H.S.), making his collegiate debut, made three saves for the Gray Wolves in net.

Lourdes (0-1) will wrap up its season-opening two-match road trip next Tuesday (Aug. 27), as the Gray Wolves travel to Circleville, Ohio to face Ohio Christian. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. at the Soccer Complex.
