Lourdes Sweeps Siena Heights for Fourth Straight Win

Lourdes registered its fourth sweep in the last eight days on Friday evening, as the Gray Wolves defeated Siena Heights 25-8, 26-24, 25-18 inside the SHU Fieldhouse in Adrian, Mich.

"We served and passed well with 12 aces and just four service errors tonight," head coach Greg Reitz said afterwards.  "We had an efficient offense again tonight and limited our errors.  The first set we really looked great."

A 13-2 run in the opening set put the Gray Wolves in front 19-5 as Lourdes hit .462 with just two errors in the stanza to take a quick lead in the match.

Five straight points to start the second continued the momentum for the Gray Wolves before the Saints scored nine of the next 11 points to forge in front.  Siena Heights led by as many as four in the set, and had a set point at 24-23, but the Gray Wolves scored the final three points to take a 2-0 lead in the contest.

Lourdes put down 18 kills in the third set on the way to completing the sweep.  An 11-5 run midway through the set gave the Gray Wolves the separation they needed on the way to the win.

Emily Drenth (Darien, Ill./Hinsdale South H.S.) led all players with 19 kills while hitting .457 and Allie Hale (Holland, Ohio/Springfield H.S.) added 13 kills and 12 digs while swinging at a .310 clip.  Yasmin Assis (Salto, Brazil/Antonio Alves Aranha H.S.) handed out 42 assists for the second straight match.

Angelica Dippold (Louisville, Ky./Mercy Academy) tallied five service aces while Assis had four more.

Defensively, Alli Plasencio (Toledo, Ohio/Central Catholic H.S.) picked up 15 digs and Kylee McBride (Peoria, Ariz./Mountain Ridge H.S.) added 14 more as Lourdes finished with a 64-42 dig edge.

Janel Ruhlman and Eriona Chambers had five kills each to lead Siena Heights (3-8, 1-4 WHAC) while Alli Conley had 12 digs.

Lourdes (7-6, 4-2) will step out of conference play for the final time this season on Saturday afternoon, as the Gray Wolves travel to NCAA Division II foe Findlay.  First serve is set for noon at Croy Gymnasium in Findlay, Ohio.
