Upcoming in Gray Wolves Volleyball: After a perfect start to the season at the Phoenix Classic, Lourdes begins the home portion of the schedule as well as the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference slate this week.  The Gray Wolves host Lawrence Tech on Wednesday evening before traveling to Indiana Tech on Saturday night.

Head Coach Greg Reitz: In his ninth season both on the Lourdes bench, and overall coaching men's volleyball, Greg Reitz has a 164-64 (.719) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves.  He has earned six conference Coach of the Year honors during his first eight seasons at Lourdes, including the first WHAC Coach of the Year last year.  He is the only head coach in program history.

Series Notes: Lourdes is 11-0 all-time against Lawrence Tech in a series that began Jan. 20, 2016.  Last season the Gray Wolves swept two matches in the Ebeid Rec Center, one during the regular season and one in the WHAC semifinals.  Lourdes also won in four sets in Southfield, Mich., the first set Lawrence Tech had ever won against the Gray Wolves.  The Gray Wolves are 4-0 in the series in the Ebeid Rec Center and 7-0 all-time at home.  Lourdes and Indiana Tech are meeting on the court for the first time ever in men's volleyball on Saturday.

Wrapping Up Last Week: The Gray Wolves were a perfect 4-0 at the Phoenix Classic.  Lourdes opened the season with a 3-1 victory over Judson on Friday behind 12 kills from Evan Gebert and 10 digs by Guga Heidrich.  The Gray Wolves added a three-set sweep against Reinhardt Friday afternoon as Gebert and Ricardo Gehrke both tallied 12 kills.  On Saturday morning, Lourdes was a 3-0 victor against Missouri Valley.  Ricardo Gehrke had 16 kills and Gebert added 11 kills and 14 digs.  The Gray Wolves closed the weekend with a sweep against host Cumberland (Tenn.).  Henrique Gehrke handed out 36 assists.

Scouting Lawrence Tech: The Blue Devils earned their first win of the season last Thursday, defeating Robert Morris (Ill.) in four sets.  Austin Cinci leads Lawrence Tech with 34 kills and is hitting .267 while Jacob Paige has handed out 89 assists.  Patrick Newell has registered three service aces.  Defensively, Jake Rajewski has a team-leading 46 digs while Max Jewett has recorded 14 blocks.

Scouting Indiana Tech: The Warriors enter the week having won two straight after downing Reinhardt and Judson on Saturday.  Indiana Tech travels to Goshen on Wednesday before hosting Lourdes.  Cameron Ternent leads the Warriors with 51 kills while Dante Siracusa is hitting .377.  Chandler Davis has handed out 158 assists and has nine aces.  Defensively, Joey Hermes has 59 digs and Chase Christiansen has tallied 31 blocks.

Gehrke Brothers Earn WHAC Honors: Ricardo Gehrke and Henrique Gehrke were both honored by the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference this week after being named the Attacker and Setter of the Week respectively.  Ricardo averaged 3.67 kills per set and hit .410 for the Gray Wolves while Henrique handed out 11.83 assists per set and led an offense that posted a .335 attack percentage.  The honor is the third in Ricardo's career and sixth all-time for Henrique.

Lourdes in Conference Openers: The Gray Wolves won their only previous WHAC opener, a 3-0 sweep at Goshen to begin the 2019 season.  Lourdes is 7-1 all-time in conference/group openers, having posted wins each of the last seven seasons.  The only conference opening loss came in the program's inaugural match, a 3-0 setback to top-ranked Saint Ambrose on Jan. 17, 2012.

Lourdes in Home Openers: The Gray Wolves are 6-2 all-time in their home openers, including 2-1 inside the Ebeid Rec Center.  Lourdes opened the 2019 home campaign with a 3-1 victory versus Webber International in a match that was part of the Gray Wolf Classic.

Gebert Sets School Mark, Surpassing 1,000 Kills: Evan Gebert became just the second Lourdes player ever to reach 1,000 kills for his carer, and in the process set a new school mark surpassing previous record-holder Frank Craig's mark of 1,002 kills.  Gebert's second kill against Cumberland (Tenn.) set the record while his second to final kill versus Missouri Valley allowed him to reach 1,000.  He enters the week with 1,009 career kills.

More Records for Gebert: With his service ace in the season opener against Judson, Evan Gebert notched his school-record 70th career ace, surpassing Jo'Lon Clark's (2014-2015) previous mark of 69.  Gebert now has 75 aces during his four years at Lourdes.

Tops in NAIA: As a team, Lourdes leads the NAIA averaging 13.23 assists per set as well as with 13.85 kills per set.  Individually, Jeff Lam is the nation's leader tallying 1.0 service aces per stanza, after registering 12 last weekend.

Record Watch: Henrique Gehrke currently ranks second all-time with 1,894 assists.  The junior setter is 386 assists behind school record holder, and current assistant coach Ryan Ferkel (2014-2017), who had 2,282 helpers.

Lourdes Debuts: Lourdes had five players make their Gray Wolf debuts last weekend at the Phoenix Classic.  Sawyer Schafer, Harrison McBean, Will Johnson, Tomas Olak, and Guga Heidrich all saw their first action wearing terra cotta and black.

This and That: Lourdes is 32-5 all-time inside the Ebeid Rec Center ... the Gray Wolves are 36-13 all-time when playing an opponent for the first time in program history ... Evan Gebert recorded his seventh career double-double (11 kills, 14 digs) against Missouri Valley ... only Gebert and Guga Heidrich played every set last weekend.
