Upcoming in Gray Wolves Volleyball: After a perfect start to the season at the Phoenix Classic, Lourdes begins the home portion of the schedule as well as the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference slate this week. Â The Gray Wolves host Lawrence Tech on Wednesday evening before traveling to Indiana Tech on Saturday night.
Head Coach Greg Reitz: In his ninth season both on the Lourdes bench, and overall coaching men's volleyball,
Greg Reitz has a 164-64 (.719) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves. Â He has earned six conference Coach of the Year honors during his first eight seasons at Lourdes, including the first WHAC Coach of the Year last year. Â He is the only head coach in program history.
Series Notes: Lourdes is 11-0 all-time against Lawrence Tech in a series that began Jan. 20, 2016. Â Last season the Gray Wolves swept two matches in the Ebeid Rec Center, one during the regular season and one in the WHAC semifinals. Â Lourdes also won in four sets in Southfield, Mich., the first set Lawrence Tech had ever won against the Gray Wolves. Â The Gray Wolves are 4-0 in the series in the Ebeid Rec Center and 7-0 all-time at home. Â Lourdes and Indiana Tech are meeting on the court for the first time ever in men's volleyball on Saturday.
Wrapping Up Last Week: The Gray Wolves were a perfect 4-0 at the Phoenix Classic. Â Lourdes opened the season with a 3-1 victory over Judson on Friday behind 12 kills from
Evan Gebert and 10 digs by
Guga Heidrich. Â The Gray Wolves added a three-set sweep against Reinhardt Friday afternoon as Gebert and
Ricardo Gehrke both tallied 12 kills. Â On Saturday morning, Lourdes was a 3-0 victor against Missouri Valley. Â
Ricardo Gehrke had 16 kills and Gebert added 11 kills and 14 digs. Â The Gray Wolves closed the weekend with a sweep against host Cumberland (Tenn.). Â
Henrique Gehrke handed out 36 assists.
Scouting Lawrence Tech: The Blue Devils earned their first win of the season last Thursday, defeating Robert Morris (Ill.) in four sets. Â Austin Cinci leads Lawrence Tech with 34 kills and is hitting .267 while Jacob Paige has handed out 89 assists. Â Patrick Newell has registered three service aces. Â Defensively, Jake Rajewski has a team-leading 46 digs while Max Jewett has recorded 14 blocks.
Scouting Indiana Tech: The Warriors enter the week having won two straight after downing Reinhardt and Judson on Saturday. Â Indiana Tech travels to Goshen on Wednesday before hosting Lourdes. Â Cameron Ternent leads the Warriors with 51 kills while Dante Siracusa is hitting .377. Â Chandler Davis has handed out 158 assists and has nine aces. Â Defensively, Joey Hermes has 59 digs and Chase Christiansen has tallied 31 blocks.Â
Gehrke Brothers Earn WHAC Honors: Ricardo Gehrke and
Henrique Gehrke were both honored by the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference this week after being named the Attacker and Setter of the Week respectively. Â Ricardo averaged 3.67 kills per set and hit .410 for the Gray Wolves while Henrique handed out 11.83 assists per set and led an offense that posted a .335 attack percentage. Â The honor is the third in Ricardo's career and sixth all-time for Henrique.
Lourdes in Conference Openers: The Gray Wolves won their only previous WHAC opener, a 3-0 sweep at Goshen to begin the 2019 season. Â Lourdes is 7-1 all-time in conference/group openers, having posted wins each of the last seven seasons. Â The only conference opening loss came in the program's inaugural match, a 3-0 setback to top-ranked Saint Ambrose on Jan. 17, 2012.
Lourdes in Home Openers: The Gray Wolves are 6-2 all-time in their home openers, including 2-1 inside the Ebeid Rec Center. Â Lourdes opened the 2019 home campaign with a 3-1 victory versus Webber International in a match that was part of the Gray Wolf Classic.
Gebert Sets School Mark, Surpassing 1,000 Kills: Evan Gebert became just the second Lourdes player ever to reach 1,000 kills for his carer, and in the process set a new school mark surpassing previous record-holder
Frank Craig's mark of 1,002 kills. Â Gebert's second kill against Cumberland (Tenn.) set the record while his second to final kill versus Missouri Valley allowed him to reach 1,000. Â He enters the week with 1,009 career kills.

Evan Gebert notched his school-record 70th career ace, surpassing
Jo'Lon Clark's (2014-2015) previous mark of 69. Â Gebert now has 75 aces during his four years at Lourdes.
Tops in NAIA: As a team, Lourdes leads the NAIA averaging 13.23 assists per set as well as with 13.85 kills per set. Â Individually,
Jeff Lam is the nation's leader tallying 1.0 service aces per stanza, after registering 12 last weekend.
Record Watch: Henrique Gehrke currently ranks second all-time with 1,894 assists. Â The junior setter is 386 assists behind school record holder, and current assistant coach
Ryan Ferkel (2014-2017), who had 2,282 helpers.
Lourdes Debuts: Lourdes had five players make their Gray Wolf debuts last weekend at the Phoenix Classic. Â
