In a game in which neither team shot 30% from the floor, Lourdes closed the game on a 22-8 run to defeat Madonna 46-42 on Wednesday evening inside The Activities Center in Livonia, Mich.

Lourdes limited Madonna to 25.7% shooting, including just 2-of-24 (8.3%) from three-point range, as the Gray Wolves notched their first road victory of the season.

"The girls worked hard today, even when we lost the lead," head coach John Kenger said afterwards.  "We came together as a team and gritted out the win."

A 10-2 run by the Gray Wolves to start the second quarter allowed Lourdes to build a 23-13 lead with 6:33 to play before halftime following a basket by Baylee Baldwin (Ottawa Lake, Mich./Whiteford H.S.).  That would be the last points Lourdes would score in the half, as Madonna closed to within 23-20 at intermission.

The Lourdes drought continued into the third quarter, as the Crusaders opened the stanza with a 14-1 run to build a 34-24 lead.  The Gray Wolves went more than 14 minutes without a field goal before Addie Conroy (Cleveland, Ohio/Padua Franciscan H.S.) stopped the run with a three-pointer.

Conroy's basket sparked Lourdes, as the Gray Wolves finished the period on an 8-0 run to close within two, 34-32, heading to the final 10 minutes.  Conroy put Lourdes in front with a three to start the fourth and the lead went back and forth for the first five minutes of the quarter.

Back-to-back baskets by Baldwin and Erica Cary (Central City, Ky./Muhlenberg County H.S.) pushed the Lourdes lead to 41-38 with 4:27 to play and the Gray Wolves would not relinquish the advantage the rest of the way.  Lourdes limited the Crusaders to just two points over the final four minutes to secure the win.

Sara Semler (Toledo, Ohio/Whitmer H.S.) led Lourdes with 10 points and four assists while Baldwin added nine more.

Paige Boden led Madonna (3-17, 1-11 WHAC) with 11 points while Emily Pendred pulled down 14 rebounds.

Lourdes (5-15, 4-9) steps out of conference play on Saturday afternoon as the Gray Wolves travel to Orrville, Ohio to battle Akron Wayne.  Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. inside of the Boyer Health and PE Center.
