Lourdes Rolls to Win at Akron Wayne

Lourdes picked up back-to-back wins for the first time this season on Saturday afternoon as the Gray Wolves cruised to an 81-27 victory over Akron Wayne inside of the Boyer Health & PE Center in Orrville, Ohio.

"That was the definition of a team win today," head coach John Kenger said afterwards.  "Everyone contributed in a positive manner and the bench was lively throughout."

Lourdes scored the game's first 10 points in just over a minute and never looked back.  The lead grew to 15, 24-9, late in the opening quarter and the Gray Wolves closed the second stanza with a 15-2 run over the final 7:39 to take a 45-18 lead into halftime.

The Gray Wolves scored the first seven points of the third quarter before outscoring the Warriors 23-2 in the frame and cruised to the win, their second straight on the road as well.

Baylee Baldwin (Ottawa Lake, Mich./Whiteford H.S.) led four Gray Wolves in double figures with 16 points while Erica Cary (Central City, Ky./Muhlenberg County H.S.) added 12 more.  Mirandia Green (Toledo, Ohio/Whitmer H.S.) tallied 11 points and Mary Liedel (Erie, Mich./Mason H.S.) chipped in 10 more.

Lourdes shot 50% from the floor and committed just 10 turnovers while handing out 19 assists.  The Gray Wolves held a 46-28 edge on the glass, with Liedel pulling down eight rebounds.

Allison Elchlinger led Akron Wayne (3-9) with 11 points and 10 rebounds as the Warriors shot just 21.7% from the floor and committed 18 turnovers.

Lourdes (6-15) will return to Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play on Wednesday evening, as the Gray Wolves host Aquinas. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.
