Lourdes Pulls Out Another Close WHAC Win at Siena Heights

Lourdes won its fourth consecutive Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference game by three points or less or in overtime on Saturday afternoon, as the Gray Wolves defeated Siena Heights 64-61 inside of SHU Fieldhouse in Adrian, Mich.

"We played extremely well when we needed to today," head coach Dennis Hopson said after the game.

After Lourdes jumped out to an early 11-5 lead, Siena Heights went on a 15-2 run to build a seven-point advantage with just under eight minutes to play in the opening half.  The Saints lead grew to 10, 26-16 with 3:24 to play before the break.  The Gray Wolves responded, scoring the final 10 points of the stanza, the final three on a triple by Clif Snow (Middletown, Ohio/Middletown H.S.) to tie the game at intermission.

Siena Heights took a 34-29 lead early in the second period before Lourdes went on a 16-6 run to take a five-point lead of its own with 11 minutes to play.  The Saints tied the game at 53 with 6:18 to play and neither team would lead by two the rest of the way.

DeMarco Dickerson put Siena Heights in front with a triple with 48.1 seconds to play, 61-60 before McRay White (Cleveland, Ohio/Garfield Heights H.S.) answered on the other end, putting the Gray Wolves on top at the 24.5 second mark.

Dickerson looked for the win in the closing seconds, but White made a block and Kenny Coleman (Toledo, Ohio/Saint Francis de Sales H.S.) added two free throws to secure the win.

"Ray made a great play at the end," Hopson added.

Little Anderson (Toledo, Ohio/Cardinal Stritch H.S.) led Lourdes with 15 points while Snow had 14 and White added 12 more.  Nick Welch (Temperance, Mich./Saint Mary Catholic Central H.S.) made it four Gray Wolves in double figures, chipping in 10 points.

Keith Jordan Jr. led Siena Heights (10-14, 7-8 WHAC) with 24 points and 11 rebounds as the Saints held a 37-30 advantage on the glass.

Lourdes (19-6, 12-3) will return home to the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center on Wednesday evening as the Gray Wolves host the University of Michigan-Dearborn.  Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
