In a match that was still in doubt heading into the final bout, Lourdes finished the 2019-2020 dual meet season suffering a 25-17 setback to 14
th-ranked Indiana Tech on Thursday evening inside the Schaefer Center in Fort Wayne, Ind.

"This wasn't the way that we envisioned ending our regular season," head coach
Dock Kelly III said afterwards. "We allowed a very winnable match to elude us tonight. I am proud of the way that our wrestlers battled in the 141, 157, 165, and 184 weight classes."

Beginning the night wrestling at 184 pounds,
Isaac Ingram (Lima, Ohio/Bath H.S.) gave Lourdes the early lead. Trailing 6-1 late in the opening period, he flipped the match with a late takedown in the period and four-point near fall to take the lead on his way to posting a 14-8 decision.

Indiana Tech won the next four bouts to build a 19-3 lead at the midway point before the Gray Wolves began their comeback attempt.Â
Nick Henneman (Oregon, Ohio/Clay H.S.) posted a shutout, 12-0 to earn a major decision at 141 pounds.

The Warriors answered with an overtime victory at 149 before
Garret Anderson (Oregon, Ohio/Clay H.S.) added a major decision of his own at 157, scoring an 11-1 victory.Â

Greg Briggs (Seville, Ohio/Cloverleaf H.S.) followed with his second fall of the year, registering the pin against 19
th-ranked Nick Gates at 1:34 of the opening period to bring the Gray Wolves within five, 22-17, heading into the final bout.

Indiana Tech (6-5) won the final match via decision to capture the team victory.

"Our focus is now on the all-important qualifying tournament next week," Kelly added. "We will continue to work hard, as well as make the necessary adjustments in order to put ourselves in the best position to qualify for the national tournament."

Lourdes will head to Bartlesville, Okla. next Friday and Saturday, Feb. 21-22 for the Sooner Athletic Conference Championships. Action begins at 11 a.m. EST on day one inside the Mueller Sports Center.
