Lourdes needed just 57 minutes on Saturday afternoon to close out play in the Gray Wolf Invitational, as the Gray Wolves swept Robert Morris (Ill.) 25-11, 25-15, 25-18 inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.

The sixth-ranked Gray Wolves hit .479 for the match while holding the Eagles to a .045 offensive clip, and outdug Robert Morris 34-12 for the contest.

"I'm glad to see that we performed well in all three sets," head coach
Greg Reitz said afterwards. "We didn't serve as well as we need to, but we were efficient with our offense and relentless on defense which gave us more chances for points."

Lourdes came out fast, hitting .773 in the opening set with 18 kills on just 22 swings. A 14-3 run allowed the Gray Wolves to pull away. Set two was tighter, with the Gray Wolves in front 14-11 before scoring five of the next seven points to take control. Lourdes limited Robert Morris to just four kills in each of the first two sets.

The Gray Wolves never trailed in the third on the way to completing the sweep. Five straight points while leading 17-15 allowed Lourdes some breathing room on the way to the team's sixth straight win.

Ricardo Gehrke (Blumenau, Brazil/Escola Barao Do Rio Branco H.S.) led Lourdes with eight kills and hit .667 while
Jeff Lam (Richmond, B.C./Hugh McRoberts H.S.) and
Evan Gebert (Fort Wayne, Ind./Snider H.S.) added seven each.

Henrique Gehrke (Blumenau, Brazil/Escola Barao Do Rio Branco H.S.) handed out 36 assists while tallying a team-high eight digs defensively. He also had three service aces.

Jordan Von Borstel led Robert Morris (1-16) with six kills.

Lourdes (16-2) will return to action on Monday, March 9, as the Gray Wolves travel to Des Moines, Iowa to face Grand View. First serve is set for 8 p.m. EST inside of the Charles S. Johnson Wellness Center.
