Michigan-Dearborn Pulls Away From Gray Wolves Late

Lourdes was within four of the University of Michigan-Dearborn entering the fourth quarter, but the Wolverines opened the final stanza with a 13-4 run to pull away and defeat the Gray Wolves 62-53 on Wednesday evening inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.

The Gray Wolves started fast, scoring 10 of the game's first 12 points just three minutes into the contest.  Lourdes maintained a lead throughout the opening quarter until a three-pointer by Sade Lemons closed the scoring and gave the Wolverines a 16-13 lead after 10 minutes.

A 13-0 Michigan-Dearborn run early in the second allowed the Wolverines to open up a 12-point lead, on the way to a 39-25 advantage at the half.  The Wolverines held Lourdes to just 25.8% shooting and forced 13 turnovers in the first half.

Lourdes made its run in the third.  Trailing 45-31 with 5:25 to play, the Gray Wolves would close the period scoring the final 10 points, pulling within four heading to the final stanza.  Michigan-Dearborn used a 10-2 run to pull away and secure the win.

Hunter Kershaw (Columbus, Ohio/Westland H.S.) led Lourdes with 10 points and six rebounds while Mary Liedel (Erie, Mich./Mason H.S.) and Sirena Pitts (Orlando, Fla./Ocoee H.S.) added eight points each.  The Gray Wolves committed just two second half turnovers but finished the game shooting just 28% from the floor, despite making 7-of-17 (41.2%) from three-point range.
