Lourdes closed out the home portion of the 2019-2020 season with a 27-16 Senior Night victory over Rochester (Mich.) on Friday evening inside the Franciscan Center Gymnasium.

"This was a great team effort to defeat a scrappy Rochester team," head coach
Dock Kelly III said afterwards. "I'm very proud of the way that we fought and competed. This was a great way to celebrate the inaugural class of seniors. I will be forever grateful to all of them for their commitment and sacrifice of laying the foundation for the success of our wrestling program."

Porter then set Lourdes off in the right direction in the match. Trailing by a point after the opening period at 125 pounds, he flipped the match and registered his fourth fall of the season at the 3:51 mark in the middle stanza to improve to 15-3 on the year.

Jimmy Balazy (Parma, Ohio/Padua Franciscan H.S.) followed with a 7-3 decision at 133, leading the entire match to record his 13
th triumph of the year, giving Lourdes a 9-0 lead. Rochester found the scoreboard at 141 with a sudden victory before Carter answered with a 4-1 decision of his own at 149 pounds, earning a wire-to-wire win.

Another tight match at 157 pounds went the way of the Warriors in a 3-2 decision before
Greg Briggs (Seville, Ohio/Cloverleaf H.S.) jumped in front 12-2 after the opening period before recording a 14-7 win. Rochester pulled within 15-10 by scoring a major decision at 174 pounds.

Isaac Ingram (Lima, Ohio/Bath H.S.) was leading in his bout at 184 2-1 when his opponent retired with an injury default, but Rochester answered with a fall at 197, setting up the decisive final match.

Lourdes led 21-16 heading into the 285-pound match when
Alec Moore-Nash (Price Hill, Ohio/Elder H.S.) clinched the victory with a pin 53 seconds into the first period. Moore-Nash tied Porter with a team-leading 15 victories with the triumph.

Lourdes (11-7) will close out dual match action on Thursday evening, as the Gray Wolves travel to Fort Wayne, Ind. to battle 14
th-ranked Indiana Tech. Action begins at 7 p.m. inside the Warrior Athletic Center.
