Lourdes concluded its season series with the University of Northwestern Ohio on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Racers for the second time in as many weeks, 77-57, inside of Racer Gymnasium in Lima, Ohio.

"This was a great win," head coach
Dennis Hopson said afterwards. "We were really getting up the floor quick today. I thought we defended well and did a good job of limiting our turnovers."

After Northwestern Ohio jumped out to a quick 8-2 lead, Lourdes responded with a 14-2 run of its own to pull in front for the first time less than seven minutes into the contest. The Racers answered with a 9-0 spurt to take its final lead of the game, 21-19, midway through the stanza.

Again Lourdes responded with a run, this time 17-2, taking a 36-23 advantage with just over three minutes left before halftime. The Gray Wolves would not relinquish their advantage the rest of the way by double figures.

The Gray Wolves held a 39-27 edge at the break and maintained an advantage between 12 and 18 points for the first 10 minutes of the second half. One final push by Lourdes extended the lead to as many as 23 as the Gray Wolves remained unbeaten in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action.

Khaire Williams led Lourdes (Detroit, Mich./Romulus H.S.) with 14 points, making three three-pointers, while
Charles Swain (Cincinnati, Ohio/North College Hill H.S.) added 10 more. The Gray Wolves shot 42.9% from the floor and were nearly perfect at the free throw line, connecting on 13-of-14 (92.9%).

Lourdes held a 41-29 advantage on the glass, with
Mike Bruce (Ypsilanti, Mich./Ypsilanti H.S.),
Nick Welch (Temperance, Mich./Saint Mary Catholic Central H.S.), and
Julian Egbo (Toledo, Ohio/Rogers H.S.) grabbing six boards each.

Nathan Lessing led Northwestern Ohio (0-5, 0-3) with 19 points while Hunter Bode added 14 more.

Lourdes (4-2, 2-0) will return home on Wednesday evening, as the Gray Wolves host Indiana Tech. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. inside of Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.
