Clif Snow (Middletown, Ohio/Middletown H.S.) matched
Zach Steinmetz as the all-time leading scorer at Lourdes University on Wednesday evening as the Gray Wolves rolled past Indiana Tech 95-66 inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.
Snow tallied a game-high 25 points, making 6-of-8 from three-point range, and now sits at 1,395 points for his career, the same total Steinmetz finished with while playing at Lourdes from 2013-2016. He matched Steinmetz draining a triple with 2:13 to play in the game.
"I am so happy for Clif," head coach
Dennis Hopson said afterwards. "He played excellent tonight. Big time players come to play in big time games, and he did that tonight."
Lourdes shot 58.1% from the floor and made 11-of-21 (52.4%) three-pointers on the night while committing just 10 turnovers. Lourdes also outrebounded Indiana Tech 33-26 and turned 10 offensive boards into 15 second chance points.
"We shot the ball extremely well and did a great job with 20 assists and just 10 turnovers," Hopson added. We played excellent tonight and I'm proud of all of my guys."
A 17-5 run late in the first half allowed Lourdes to build a 19-point advantage, 39-20, and the Gray Wolves never allowed the Warriors to get within single digits the rest of the night. Lourdes led 41-27 at halftime and had runs of 8-0 and 10-2 during a second half in which the Gray Wolves led by as many as 32.
In addition to Snow's 25 points,
Little Anderson (Toledo, Ohio/Cardinal Stritch H.S.) added 19 points, including 11 in the game's first nine minutes.
Nick Welch (Temperance, Mich./Saint Mary Catholic Central H.S.) added 15 points while
Julian Egbo (Toledo, Ohio/Rogers H.S.) also chipped in 15 points off the bench. Welch had a game-high seven rebounds while
Brett Lauf (Napoleon, Ohio/Napoleon H.S.) dished out seven assists.
Grant Smith and Josh Kline led Indiana Tech (10-7, 1-1 WHAC) with 10 points each. The Warriors shot 47.3% from the floor but committed 16 turnovers which led to 21 Lourdes points.
"Our bigs were excellent tonight and our defense limited them to only two guys in double figures, and they only had 10 points each," Hopson concluded.
Lourdes (5-2, 3-0), winners of five straight, remain home on Sunday afternoon as the Gray Wolves host Concordia (Mich.). Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. inside the Ebeid Rec Center.
