Gray Wolves Fall on the Road at Indiana-South Bend

Lourdes concluded its season-opening road trip on Wednesday evening, suffering a 94-70 setback to Indiana-South Bend inside the Student Activities Center in South Bend, Ind.

"We made some progress in some areas," head coach Tandy Bradford said afterwards.  "We kept fighting, but we have some of those big gaps you get when you have a young team.  We need to finish better, but we did a good job of getting the to free throw line tonight on the road."

Trailing 7-6 midway through the opening quarter, Lourdes saw the Titans score 13 of the next 16 points to open up a 20-10 lead after 10 minutes.  The Gray Wolves battled back to within six, 31-25, with four minutes to play before halftime following a Maddie Norton (Temperance, Mich./Bedford H.S.) three-pointer before Indiana-South Bend responded with a 12-1 run before halftime to take a 44-29 lead into the locker room.

After the hosts scored the first basket of the second half, Lourdes scored the next seven points, capped with a three-point play from Gabby Stover (Lexington, Ohio/Lexington H.S.) to pull within 10, 46-36.  Again, the Titans made a run, this one 27-11, to push the lead to 73-47 late in the third quarter.  The Gray Wolves were unable to make a fourth quarter run.

Stover led Lourdes with 20 points while Logan Ingram (Mount Pleasant, Mich./Mount Pleasant H.S.) added 13 points.  Alex Wolfe (Toledo, Ohio/Notre Dame Academy) added 10 more for the Gray Wolves.  Lourdes shot just 31.1% from the floor though and committed 31 turnovers.

The Gray Wolves outrebounded Indiana-South Bend (2-0) 41-39, including 13-7 on the offensive end.  Lourdes held a 20-2 advantage in second chance points.

Maddie Gard led the Titans with 31 points as Indiana-South Bend outscored the Gray Wolves 54-18 in the paint.  The hosts shot 53.5% from the floor to offset 25 turnovers.

Lourdes (0-2) will open the home portion of its schedule on Tuesday evening as the Gray Wolves host Spring Arbor.  Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.
