Lourdes turned a two-point halftime advantage into a lead of as many as 16 in the second half on Tuesday evening as the Gray Wolves earned their first victory of the season, 70-60, over Spring Arbor inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.
 
"I was happy to see some of the goals that we set for tonight achieved," head coach Tandy Bradford said following her first victory at the helm of the Gray Wolves.  "The girls are fighting hard to compete on every possession and I am thrilled with their effort and energy."
 
The opening quarter was tight throughout, with Lourdes holding the largest lead at four, 10-6, before the teams ended the stanza deadlocked at 18.  Spring Arbor opened the second period scoring the first seven points while holding the Gray Wolves scoreless for nearly five minutes.  A three-pointer by Maddie Norton (Temperance, Mich./Bedford H.S.) started a 7-0 run for Lourdes to pull back even and the Gray Wolves eventually took a 30-28 lead into the locker room.
 
Lourdes never trailed the rest of the way.  A Shae Pedroza (Napoleon, Ohio/Napoleon H.S.) triple early in the third pushed the lead to six.  After the Cougars battled back to within one, 36-35, Lourdes closed the quarter on an 11-2 run over the final 4:30 to build a 10-point lead heading into the final 10 minutes.
 
An 8-0 run, keyed by three-pointers from Logan Ingram (Mount Pleasant, Mich./Mount Pleasant H.S.) and Pedroza pushed the advantage to 16, 60-44, midway through the fourth and the Gray Wolves maintained the double digit lead the rest of the way to earn the win.
 
Pedroza led four Gray Wolves in double figures, scoring 17 points while Mercedes Wagner (Sherwood, Ohio/Fairview H.S.) added 13 more.  Shallyn Miley (Bryan, Ohio/Bryan H.S.) chipped in 12 points while Ingram finished with 10.  Lourdes shot 47.4% from the floor for the evening.
 
Alex Long paced Spring Arbor (0-2) with 17 points while Daelynn Jackson added 13 points and 10 rebounds as the Cougars outrebounded the Gray Wolves 41-26.  Lourdes forced 27 Spring Arbor turnovers on the night, leading to 29 points.
 
Lourdes (1-2) will continue its three-game homestand on Thursday evening as the Gray Wolves entertain Carlow.  Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. inside the Ebeid Rec Center.
