Lourdes snapped its six-game losing streak in convincing fashion on Monday evening, as the Gray Wolves defeated Olivet 76-40 inside of the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.
The Gray Wolves limited the Comets to just 29.1% shooting for the evening, including just 3-of-17 (17.6%) from three-point range, while forcing 20 turnovers, 13 via steals. Lourdes also outrebounded Olivet 57-35, including 21-7 on the offensive end.
Lourdes started quickly, building an early 11-2 lead less than four minutes into the game. The Gray Wolves pushed the lead to 12, 22-10, after the opening 10 minutes. A 12-2 run to open the second period extended the advantage to 22 on the way to a 36-17 lead at intermission.
Olivet cut into the Gray Wolf advantage early in the third quarter, scoring 12 of the first 16 points to pull within 11. A 12-0 response by Lourdes pushed the advantage back to 23 late in the period. The Gray Wolves scored the first 16 points of the fourth to make it 72-33 on the way to closing out the victory.
Logan Ingram (Mount Pleasant, Mich./Mount Pleasant H.S.) led Lourdes with 17 points, making five triples, while
Shae Pedroza (Napoleon, Ohio/Napoleon H.S.) went 5-of-7 from the floor, including 4-of-6 from long range, and finished with 14 points.
Alex Wolfe (Toledo, Ohio/Notre Dame Academy) added 10 more points as all nine Gray Wolves that dressed finished the game with at least four points.
Gabby Stover (Lexington, Ohio/Lexington H.S.) pulled down 11 rebounds, had six assists, and registered four steals while
Shallyn Miley (Bryan, Ohio/Bryan H.S.) grabbed 14 boards.
Alicia Bullaro led Olivet (2-9) with 11 points while Zoee Zatarga added eight more.
Lourdes (4-8) returns to the road on Thursday evening as the Gray Wolves head to Upland, Ind. to face Taylor. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. inside Odle Arena.
