Lourdes led Taylor most of the game on Thursday evening, but the Trojans pulled in front for good with three minutes to play and defeated the Gray Wolves 62-58 inside of Odle Arena in Upland, Ind.
Â
Gabby Stover (Lexington, Ohio/Lexington H.S.) registered a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds to pace the Gray Wolves while

Mercedes Wagner (Sherwood, Ohio/Fairview H.S.) pulled down 10 rebounds.
Â
"We did everything we could to win that game," head coach
Tandy Bradford said afterwards. "We asked for really good effort, energy, and effective communication, and we got it for 80% of the game. You can't go 4-for-16 in the fourth quarter on the road and win a close game though. We are still battling four quarters of consistency and consistency from game-to-game. When we find that rhythm of constancy we will win these games."
Â
A 9-0 run by Lourdes over three-and-a-half minutes allowed the Gray Wolves to build what would be their largest advantage of the game, 20-12, late in the opening period. The Trojans responded with a 10-2 run of its own, spanning the quarter break, and tied the game at 22. Lourdes would push the lead back to six late in the half before Taylor scored six straight points, tying the game at 31 at intermission.
Â
The game went back-and-forth in the third quarter, with 10 lead changes taking place in the stanza.Â
Lexie Sermak (Okemos, Mich./Okemos H.S.) put Lourdes in front, 49-47, heading into the fourth with a three-pointer in the closing seconds of the third.
Â
The Gray Wolves extended their lead to five, 54-49, with just under eight minutes remaining before Taylor responded with six straight points. A Wagner lay-in at the four-minute mark allowed Lourdes to regain the lead 56-55, but that would be the visitors final advantage of the night. Trailing by three with less than a minute to play,
Logan Ingram (Mount Pleasant, Mich./Mount Pleasant H.S.) knocked down a 17-foot jumper to make it a one-point game, but the Gray Wolves could not find the equalizer down the stretch.
Â
Lourdes finished the game shooting 36.4% from the floor, but was just 8-of-27 (29.6%) from beyond the arc and 2-of-4 from the free throw line. The Gray Wolves committed 18 turnovers. Taylor connected at similar clips of 35.5% from the field and was 8-of-29 (27.6%) from long range but made 10-of-18 free throws. The Trojans committed turnovers and outrebounded Lourdes 37-34 for the night.
Â
Lourdes (4-9) returns to the hardwood on Tuesday evening for its final home game of the 2021 calendar year hosting Miami-Hamilton. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.
