Facing four quality opponents on Saturday at the Campbellsville Duals, 15th-ranked Lourdes posted victories over Truett McConnell 37-10 and seventh-ranked Cumberland (Tenn.) 23-20 while falling 34-4 to fifth-ranked Reinhardt and 30-20 to 11th-ranked Campbellsville inside of Gosser Gymnasium in Campbellsville, Ky.

"This was a brutal road test for us, but it also was a great indicator as to where we stand nationally as a wrestling program," head coach Dock Kelly III said afterwards.  "It's very disappointing that we missed out on some golden opportunities individually in all of our duals, however I am very pleased that we were able to knock off another top-10 wrestling program."

Nick Henneman (Oregon, Ohio/Clay H.S.) and Blake Montrie (Lambertville, Mich./Bedford H.S.) both were a perfect 4-0 on the day at 141 and 157 pounds to pace the Gray Wolves.

Lourdes opened the day with its eighth consecutive victory to open the season.  Jimmy Balazy (Parma, Ohio/Padua Franciscan H.S.) put the Gray Wolves on the scoreboard against Truett McConnell, pinning his opponent with 18 seconds remaining in the opening period at 133 pounds.  Henneman followed with a pin just 26 seconds into his contest, giving the Gray Wolves a 12-4 lead.

After Lourdes fell at 149, Montrie scored a 19-7 major decision.  Noah Clary (Upper Sandusky, Ohio/Upper Sandusky H.S.) added a fall at the 45 second mark of his 174-pound match before Carter Kroll (Ontario, Ohio/Ontario H.S.) and Noah Eikenbary (Kenton, Ohio/Kenton H.S.) were credited with wins via forfeit at 197 and 285 pounds respectively.

Henneman and Montrie scored the lone victories for the Gray Wolves against Reinhardt as Lourdes suffered its first dual loss of the season.  Henneman defeated 13th-ranked Trent Leon in a 12-9 decision while Montrie won 6-4 in sudden victory over 18th-ranked Aushaud Evans.

Henneman scored another fall, this time at the 2:02 mark of the first period to put Lourdes on the scoreboard against Campbellsville before Montrie earned a forfeit win.  Will Speight (Bedford, Ohio/Bedford H.S.) won by an 8-4 decision at 184 pounds.  Eikenbary closed out the match with a pin at 1:23, his third fall of the year.

Balazy got Lourdes started against Cumberland as well, earning a 6-5 decision.  Henneman followed with an 18-1 tech fall in the second period before Cyle Wells (Springfield, Ohio/Tecumseh H.S.) notched a fall 40 seconds into the second period at 149 pounds.  Montrie's 5-2 decision increased the Gray Wolf advantage to 17-6.

Cumberland battled back, but a sudden victory by Clary, 3-1, and a 9-4 decision by Speight allowed the Gray Wolves to pull off the upset.

With the win, Lourdes has now defeated a top-10 team in NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA this season.

"We will take a few weeks off to rest and recover, and then we will get prepared for the national duals in January," Kelly concluded.

Lourdes (9-2) has more than a month off from competition before heading to Louisville, Ky. for the NWCA National Duals.  Action will take place Jan. 6-7 inside the Kentucky Exposition Center.
