Lourdes Drops Home Finale to Siena Heights Sunday Afternoon

Lourdes closed out the scheduled home portion of the 2020-2021 season on Sunday afternoon, suffering a 65-48 setback to Siena Heights inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.

The Gray Wolves struggled shooting the ball, connecting at a 28.6% clip from the field on the afternoon.

"The defense played strong today, but we settled on the offensive side of things," head coach John Kenger said afterwards.  "We need to learn as a team and keep pushing forward."

Lourdes kept things close throughout the first half.  A 11-2 run spanning the quarter break put Lourdes in front 20-16.  The Saints answered with the final 12 points of the stanza, including a three-pointer as time expired, to take a 31-23 lead into the locker room.

Lourdes was within six, 39-33, with 4:11 to play in the third before Siena Heights tallied the final 13 points of the period to push the lead to 19.  The run extended to 19-0 with the first six points of the fourth and the Gray Wolves would never recover.

Kailani Broyles (Massillon, Ohio/Washington H.S.) led Lourdes with 12 points off the bench while Mary Liedel (Erie, Mich./Mason H.S.) added 11 more.

Sha'kyia Parker led Siena Heights (9-4, 6-3 WHAC) with 17 points while Peyton Banks added 14 for the Saints.

Lourdes begins its final road trip of the regular season on Wednesday evening, traveling to Grand Rapids, Mich. to face Cornerstone.  Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. inside of Mol Arena.
