Lourdes Finishes Runner-Up at WHAC Championships

Final Results

Lourdes turned in a pair of clean performances on Saturday evening on the way to a second place finish at the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Championships held inside of Cardinal Fieldhouse in Ann Arbor, Mich.

The Gray Wolves posted a combined score of 87.13 while host Concordia (Mich.) took home the league title with a mark of 89.68.  Aquinas placed third with a total of 86.59.

"I do not have words for how proud I am of this team," head coach Chelsea Leis said afterwards.  "They performed two flawless, zero deduction routines tonight with more passion and fight than I could have hoped for.  They held their own as an all-girl team and competed a routine packed with difficulty.   While the results were not as we had hoped, we can certainly hold our heads high knowing we left it all on the mat tonight."

Lourdes posted a score of 87.30 in the preliminary round which accounted for 25% of the overall total.  The Gray Wolves were the only team in the competition without a deduction in the preliminary round.

In the finals, which accounted for the other 75% of the overall score, Lourdes posted a total of 87.07, again void of deductions.

The Gray Wolves will now await the announcement of the NAIA National Championship field to find out if they will earn an at-large bid to the event.
