For the first time since January of 2015, Lourdes defeated Lawrence Tech on the hardwood Saturday afternoon, defeating the Blue Devils convincingly 78-62 inside of the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.

Led by 20 points and six steals from

"This was a great team win," head coach
John Kenger said following the victory. "I was proud of the team for how hard they worked."
Â
Lourdes jumped in front quickly, using a 15-2 run over four minutes to build a double-digit advantage, 16-5, just six minutes into the game. Lawrence Tech rallied late in the period, closing to within five, 18-13, after 10 minutes.
Â
After the Blue Devils pulled to within three, the game stayed between four and eight points most of the second quarter. A late 11-3 run before halftime allowed the Gray Wolves to extend their lead back to double figures, 42-31, at the break following a put back basket by
Gabby Stover (Lexington, Ohio/Lexington H.S.) just before the horn.
Â
The Gray Wolves slowly continued to extend their lead in the third, pushing the advantage to as many as 19, 61-42, in the final minute of the stanza. Lawrence Tech rallied early in the fourth, going on a 10-2 spurt to pull within nine, 67-58, at the 6:46 mark. Following a Lourdes time-out, Broyles scored inside and followed with another steal and score to extend the lead again, and the Gray Wolves would hold at least a 12-point edge the rest of the way.
Â
Lourdes shot 47.7% from the floor and outrebounded the Blue Devils 39-32 for the afternoon. The Gray Wolves scored 42 points in the paint, including 17 second chance points from 12 offensive boards. Lourdes also forced 19 Lawrence Tech turnovers, capitalizing them into 23 points.

Â
"We need to enjoy today but be ready for tomorrow's game against Rochester as well," Kenger added.
Â
Lourdes (3-6, 2-3) will return to action on Sunday afternoon, hosting Rochester (Mich.) inside the Ebeid Rec Center. Tip-off is set for noon with Senior Day, honoring
