In its final tune-up before Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play begins, Lourdes dropped a 13-4 decision to Thomas More on Tuesday afternoon at Mercy Field.
The Saints tallied three or more runs in three different innings. Thomas More took a 3-0 lead after two before the Gray Wolves picked up a run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the third. The two teams traded runs in the fourth, with
Devin Rooks (Toledo, Ohio/Whitmer H.S.) driving home the Lourdes run with a RBI single.
Thomas More (7-11) added three runs in the fifth and tacked on another in the sixth before Lourdes plated a pair in the sixth.
Michael Strzelewicz (Temperance, Mich./Saint Mary's Catholic Central H.S.) drew a bases loaded walk before
Jay Denman (Toledo, Ohio/Saint Francis de Sales H.S.) added a RBI on a fielder's choice.
Four more runs crossed the plate for the Saints in the seventh before the visitors added one final tally in the ninth.
Gabe Scott (Curtis, Ohio/Genoa H.S.) had two hits for the Gray Wolves as Lourdes tallied 10 on the afternoon.
Lourdes (7-7) will open Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play on Saturday afternoon, hosting Aquinas. First pitch in game one of the doubleheader is set for 1 p.m. at Mercy Field.
