Lourdes battled back to force a fifth set on Friday evening but Concordia (Mich.) ultimately prevailed in the decisive set, defeating the Gray Wolves 27-25, 24-26, 25-20, 22-25, 15-6 inside of Cardinal Fieldhouse in Ann Arbor, Mich.
"We battled pretty well for a lot of the match but just didn't have enough left for the fifth set," head coach
Greg Reitz said afterwards.
McKenna Hall (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview H.S.) led Lourdes with 21 kills while hitting .261. She also tallied 24 digs on the defensive end of the floor.
Allie Hale (Holland, Ohio/Springfield H.S.) added 17 kills as Lourdes finished the night with a 62-59 advantage in that category.
Megan Vayansky (Pickerington, Ohio/North H.S.) handed out 50 assists while directing an offense that hit .153 for the night.
Defensively,
Alli Plasencio (Toledo, Ohio/Central Catholic H.S.) also had 24 digs while
Quinn Yondo (Grand Rapids, Mich./Catholic Central H.S.) added 16 more.
Kylee McBride (Peoria, Ariz./Mountain Ridge H.S.) also tallied 15 digs while Vayansky completed a double-double with 13 digs.
Kaitlin Veihl and Kayla Peters led Concordia (7-10, 7-7 WHAC) with 14 kills each while Tara Schatzle recorded 34 digs.
Lourdes (4-11, 4-10) will return home on Tuesday evening to host Indiana Tech. First serve is set for 4 p.m. inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.
