Upcoming in Gray Wolves Volleyball: Postseason play has arrived for Lourdes University's men's volleyball team as the Gray Wolves host the WHAC tournament.  Lourdes, the tournament's top seed, faces fourth-seeded Goshen on Friday evening in the semifinals, with the winner headed to Saturday's championship match against the Indiana Tech-Siena Heights victor.

Head Coach Greg Reitz: In his 10th season both on the Lourdes bench, and overall coaching men's volleyball, Greg Reitz has a 189-70 (.730) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves.  He has earned six conference Coach of the Year honors during his first nine seasons at Lourdes, including the WHAC Coach of the Year in 2018.  He is the only head coach in program history.

Series Notes: Lourdes is 4-1 all-time against Goshen in a series that began Jan. 22, 2019.  The Gray Wolves swept this season's series, winning both matches in straight sets.  Lourdes is 2-1 against Goshen in the Ebeid Rec Center.  The Gray Wolves are 2-1 against Indiana Tech in a series that began Jan. 25, 2020.  The schools split this year's contests, with the Warriors winning in four sets in Fort Wayne, Ind. while Lourdes was a three-set victor in the Ebeid Rec Center, Indiana Tech's only previous appearance in Sylvania.  Lourdes holds a 26-1 series edge against Siena Heights dating back to Feb. 14, 2012.  The Gray Wolves have won five straight meetings in the series after winning both contests this season in four sets.  Lourdes is 5-0 against Siena Heights in the Ebeid Rec Center.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes swept Indiana Tech 25-22, 25-16, 25-22 on Tuesday (March 23) to close out the home slate.  Jeff Lam hit .516 with 17 kills while Ricardo Gehrke added 14 kills.  Aquinas downed the Gray Wolves in the regular season finale 22-25, 25-19, 25-20, 25-21 on Saturday.  Lam had 17 kills and 14 digs while Gehrke added 11 kills.

Scouting Goshen: The Maple Leafs enter the tournament having won four straight matches after defeating Cornerstone in four sets on Saturday afternoon.  Alexander Rabadzhiev leads Goshen with 307 kills and is hitting .286 while Michael Wahl has handed out 739 assists.  Rabadzhiev also leads the Maple Leafs with 39 service aces.  Defensively, Brayton Yoder has a team-leading 215 digs while Andy Bennett has registered 77 blocks.

Scouting Indiana Tech: The Warriors enter the tournament following a straight sets victory over Siena Heights on Thursday.  Daynte Stewart leads Indiana Tech with 225 kills and is hitting .256.  Brandon Jones has handed out 481 assists while Stewart also leads the team with 25 service aces.  Defensively, Joey Hermes has recorded 237 digs while Chase Christiansen has a team-high 64 blocks, including 25 of the solo variety.

Scouting Siena Heights: The Saints enter the tournament having defeated Mount Vernon Nazarene in their regular season finale on Saturday.  Alex Garavalia leads Siena Heights with 203 kills and is hitting .193 while Keegan Crawford has handed out 649 assists.  Crawford also has a team-high 21 service aces.  On defense, Joudiel Poveymirow leads the Saints with 271 digs while Jakob Pickett has registered 55 blocks.

Lourdes in the WHAC Tournament: Lourdes won the 2019 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament, the league's first postseason event, before the 2020 championship was cancelled due to COVID-19.  The Gray Wolves downed Lawrence Tech and Aquinas in the first tournament.  

More WHAC Honors: Ian Fields was named the WHAC Setter of the Week for the fourth time this season while Bryant Herrera picked up his first league citation as the WHAC Defender of the Week to close the regular season.  In total, Lourdes had six WHAC Attackers of the Week, five Defenders of the Week, and seven Setters of the Week.

Leading the NAIA: Jeff Lam leads all NAIA player averaging 0.96 service aces per set this season.  The Gray Wolf senior has recorded 43 aces in the 45 sets he has played this year.  

Setting a New School Record: Jeff Lam set a new program record for service aces earlier this season.  He currently has 119 aces after passing his former teammate, Evan Gebert (2017-2020), who tallied 87 during his four years at Lourdes.

On the Assist Charts: Henrique Gehrke has set the school's career assist mark with 2,573 helpers over his four years.  Gehrke has 291 assists more than current assistant coach Ryan Ferkel (2014-2017), who is second on the list.  In addition, Ian Fields has moved into third on that same list with 1,262 during his time in a Lourdes uniform.

Record Watch: Jeff Lam and Ricardo Gehrke rank third and fourth respectively in career kills.  Lam currently has 955 kills while Gehrke has 779 kills during his stay at Lourdes.  Gehrke just surpassed Nick DiMarco's (2012-2013) total of 804.  Lam is 47 kills behind second place Frank Craig (2012-2015), who graduated with 1,002 kills.  

This and That: Lourdes has won 12 straight matches at home in the Ebeid Rec Center and is 34-8 all-time on its home court, including 8-0 this season ... the Gray Wolves have had more kills than their opponents in all 14 matches this year ... opponents are hitting just .139 against the Gray Wolves this season.
