Lourdes Drops Defensive Struggle to Siena Heights

In a game in which both teams limited the opposing offenses to low shooting percentages and forced numerous turnovers, Siena Heights came away with a 54-41 victory over Lourdes on Monday evening inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.

The Gray Wolves held Siena Heights to just 32.1% shooting from the floor and force 28 turnovers, 13 of which came via steals.  However, Lourdes connected at just a 26.7% clip from the field, including 13.6% (3-of-22) from beyond the arc, and committed 18 miscues of its own.

"We have to play with urgency to win games consistently," head coach Tandy Bradford said afterwards.  "We did not play with urgency tonight."

Siena Heights led the entire way, closing the opening quarter on a 9-3 run to take a 20-10 advantage after 10 minutes.  The Saints lead grew to 14 three minutes into the second period, and remained there at intermission, with Siena Heights holding a 36-22 lead.

Lourdes outscored the Saints 19-18 over the final 20 minutes but was never able to make a run.  Siena Heights led by 18, 49-31, with under seven minutes to play before the Gray Wolves outscored the visitors 10-5 down the stretch.
