Nick Henneman (Oregon, Ohio/Clay H.S.) and Richard Jackson (Toledo, Ohio/Central Catholic H.S.) both went 3-0 Thursday as 16th-ranked Lourdes one won of its three matches at the NWCA National Duals inside the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Ky.

The Gray Wolves took the opening match against sixth-ranked Lindsey Wilson to the final bout before falling 24-21.  Lourdes lost its second contest of the day 27-15 against Baker before closing the competition with a 31-13 triumph over Brewton-Parker.

"The level of competition was as fierce as we anticipated it to be," head coach Dock Kelly III said afterwards.  "This was a fantastic opportunity for our wrestling program to compete on the national level.  We didn't wrestle to the best of our ability today and that is always disappointing."

Trailing 11-0 after two bouts against Lindsey Wilson, Henneman put the Gray Wolves on the scoreboard with a 17-0 tech fall at 141 pounds.  The Blue Raiders answered with two more wins, to increase their advantage to 18-5 before the Gray Wolves began their rally.  Jackson scored his first fall of the season at 165 pounds with 52 seconds remaining in the opening period while Noah Clary (Upper Sandusky, Ohio/Upper Sandusky H.S.) followed with an 11-1 major decision at 174 pounds.

Will Speight (Bedford, Ohio/Bedford H.S.) put Lourdes in front 21-18 with a fall at the 2:34 mark of his 184-pound contest.  Lindsey Wilson notched decisions at each of the last two bouts though to rally to earn the win.

In match two against Baker, Henneman again scored the Gray Wolves' first win, needing just 1:33 to record the fall.  Garret Anderson (Oregon, Ohio/Clay H.S.) picked up his first win of the year at 157 pounds with a 7-0 decision before Jackson earned a 9-7 sudden victory triumph.  Speight also won in sudden victory, 4-2, for Lourdes final win of the contest.  For Speight, it was his 10th win of the season.

Lourdes started strong in the final contest against Brewton-Parker.  Riley Rhone (Grand Haven, Mich./Grand Haven H.S.) opened winning a 4-2 decision at 125 pounds before Dru Wilson (Warren, Mich./Wood-Tower H.S.) notched a 17-4 major decision at 133 pounds.  Henneman moved to 14-0 on the season with his eighth fall of the year at the 1:51 mark.

Cyle Wells (Springfield, Ohio/Tecumseh H.S.) was awarded a forfeit win at 149 pounds before Anderson scored a 12-7 decision for his second victory of the day.  Jackson capped his perfect day with a 6-3 win at 165 pounds for his eighth triumph of the year, increasing the Gray Wolves' advantage to 25-0.

Brewton-Parker won three of the final four bouts, but Carter Kroll (Ontario, Ohio/Ontario H.S.) captured a win at 197 pounds for Lourdes with a first period pin of his own.

Lourdes also had three grapplers compete at the NUWAY College Open being held simultaneously at the same location, but none of Gray Wolves managed a victory.

"We are now in the gauntlet of our schedule so we must learn from this experience and prepare for Marian next week," Kelly concluded.

Lourdes (10-4) will return to the mat on Thursday evening, traveling to Indianapolis, Ind. to battle 10th-ranked Marian.  The opening bout is slated for 6 p.m. inside the Physical Education Center.
