Lourdes wrapped up a three-match road trip on Saturday afternoon with a 25-17, 25-14, 25-21 sweep of Rochester (Mich.) inside the Garth Pleasant Arena in Rochester Hills, Mich.
The Gray Wolves controlled the match, hitting .208 while limiting the Warriors to just a .040 clip for the night. Lourdes outdug Rochester 82-63 as well for the match.
Lourdes led wire-to-wire in the opening set, using a 6-0 run to build a 12-4 advantage. The Gray Wolves never trailed in the second set either, breaking the stanza open with a 10-3 run to pull in front 16-7. The third set was tied late at 19-19 before Lourdes scored four straight points on the way to completing the sweep.
Abby Gentile (Blissfield, Mich./Blissfield H.S.) hit .323 with a match-high 13 kills to pace the offense while
Macey Zinser (Bucyrus, Ohio/Wynford H.S.) added 10 kills while hitting .381.
Katey Stakolich (Parma, Ohio/Normandy H.S.) handed out 24 assists while serving up three aces.
Defensively,
Alli Plasencio (Toledo, Ohio/Central Catholic H.S.) set a school record for a three-set match with 38 digs while
McKenna Hall (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview H.S.) had 18 more.
Jolie Sobb (Toledo, Ohio/Maumee H.S.) also had 14 digs in the match.
Hailee Mancogna led Rochester (3-24, 1-14 WHAC) with 10 kills while Carly Rodman had 22 digs for the Warriors.
Lourdes (10-15, 6-10) returns home on Wednesday evening as the Gray Wolves host Lawrence Tech. First serve is set for 7 p.m. inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.
