Lourdes rebounded from a first set loss on Wednesday evening to defeat Lawrence Tech 17-25, 25-13, 25-14, 25-14 inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.
"This was a good team win," head coach
Greg Reitz said afterwards. "We played some really solid volleyball in sets two, three, and four."
Lawrence Tech (11-17, 4-12 WHAC) put down 18 kills and hit .325 in the opening stanza to take an early lead in the match. The Gray Wolves forced the Blue Devils to a -.029 hitting efficiency in set two and closed the set on a 13-3 run to even the match.
In the third, seven straight points allowed the Gray Wolves to build an 18-10 advantage as Lourdes finished the set on a 14-4 run. Lourdes never trailed in the fourth, jumping out to a 7-2 lead on the way to closing out the match.
Abby Gentile (Blissfield, Mich./Blissfield H.S.) recorded a double-double, putting down 12 kills and registering 11 digs while
Jolie Sobb (Toledo, Ohio/Maumee H.S.) matched her with 12 kills and hit .312.
Katey Stakolich (Parma, Ohio/Normandy H.S.) handed out 38 assists.
Lydia Landoll (Monroeville, Ohio/Monroeville H.S.) recorded five of the team's 11 service aces.
Defensively,
McKenna Hall (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview H.S.) and
Alli Plasencio (Toledo, Ohio/Central Catholic H.S.) each tallied 20 digs while
Cammy Smith (Mansfield, Ohio/Ontario H.S.) was involved in six blocks.
Lourdes finished the match hitting .225 while outdigging the Blue Devils 75-64 and held a 9-3 edge in blocks.
Riley O'Connell led Lawrence Tech with 16 kills and 14 digs.
Lourdes (11-15, 7-10) takes to the road for the final time during the 2022 regular season on Friday evening, traveling to Dearborn, Mich. to battle the University of Michigan-Dearborn. First serve is set for 7 p.m. at Henry Ford Community College.
