Lourdes Scores Road Sweep at Michigan-Dearborn

Lourdes made quick work of its final road match of the 2022 regular season on Friday evening, sweeping the University of Michigan-Dearborn 25-16, 25-16, 25-15 at Henry Ford Community College in Dearborn, Mich.

"We played pretty well for much of the match," head coach Greg Reitz said afterwards.  "We were able to serve them out of system and pass and dig well enough to stay in system.  We need to continue to focus on improvement for a strong push to the end of the regular season."

The Gray Wolves limited the Wolverines to a -.058 hitting percentage for the evening while swinging at a .242 clip themselves.

Seven straight points from Lydia Landoll's (Monroeville, Ohio/Monroeville H.S.) serve, including two of her six aces on the night, allowed Lourdes to take a 10-7 lead in the opening set, an advantage the Gray Wolves would not relinquish the rest of the way.

In set two, when tied 8-8, Lourdes went on an 8-2 run to pull away.  The third saw Lourdes jump out to a 10-4 lead on the way to completing the sweep.

Abby Gentile (Blissfield, Mich./Blissfield H.S.) hit .387 and led Lourdes with 14 kills while McKenna Hall (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview H.S.) added nine more kills.  Katey Stakolich (Parma, Ohio/Normandy H.S.) handed out 27 assists directing the offense.

Alli Plasencio (Toledo, Ohio/Central Catholic H.S.) paced the defense withy 17 digs while Cammy Smith (Mansfield, Ohio/Ontario H.S.) added four blocks.

Kielee Tondryk led Michigan-Dearborn (14-15, 9-8 WHAC) with nine kills while Kenzie Mertz had 15 digs.

Lourdes (12-15, 8-10) begins its final homestand of the regular season on Saturday as the Gray Wolves host Siena Heights.  First serve is set for 1 p.m. inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.
