Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Lourdes and Rochester Play to 2-2 Tie Saturday Night

For the second consecutive match Lourdes managed a point in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference standings after battling Rochester (Mich.) to a 2-2 draw on Saturday evening at Wildcat Stadium.

"Soccer is a game of fine margins," head coach Matt Johnson said afterwards.  "After we went up 2-1, we had a stretch where we had a lot of momentum and opportunities to get the third goal but we weren't able to capitalize.  We let them back in by betting a little over aggressive going forward.  We're pretty disappointed not to get the win tonight, but there's not time to dwell on things with a ranked team sitting in first place in the WHAC coming in on Wednesday.  We need to recover and be ready for another great challenge."

Rochester (5-5-2, 1-2-2 WHAC) struck first as Sean Reardon headed in a service from Vladimir Dokic just 10:36 into the contest.  The Gray Wolves would answer midway through the first half though.  Ariel Ramirez Rios (San Lorenzo, Paraguay/Colegio Aula Vira) sent a long ball ahead across the field that Anthony Samuel (Chaguanas, Trinidad & Tobago/Chaguanas) ran onto and fired into the back of the net for his team-leading fourth goal of the season.

The match remained even at one heading into halftime despite Lourdes outshooting the Warriors 11-3 over the first 45 minutes.

The Gray Wolves took the lead just under 13 minutes into the second half.  N'Faly Diallo (Detroit, Mich./Mumford H.S.) flicked a ball into the box where Andris Klempert (Hamburg, Germandy/Stadtteilschule Walddorfer) was able to collect and shoot, scoring his first goal of the season.

Ten minutes later, Luis Koleci won a battle in the box with a bouncing ball and scored the equalizer with 22:17 to play.

Lourdes finished the match with a 20-7 shot advantage, forcing Rochester netminder Kris Tauzik to make 10 saves.  Alex Brock (Sylvania, Ohio/Southview H.S.) made three stops in goal for the Gray Wolves.

Lourdes (3-6-3, 1-2-2) concludes its three-match homestand on Wednesday afternoon hosting Indiana Tech.  Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium.
