Lourdes stepped out of Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action on Saturday, dropping a pair of matches inside Ariel Arena in Rio Grande, Ohio. The Gray Wolves fell 25-16, 25-17, 25-8 in the opener to Trinity International before falling to host Rio Grande 25-16, 25-17, 25-21 in the second contest.

In the opener against Trinity International, Lourdes managed just 13 kills for the match, hitting -.074. The Gray Wolves had just three kills in set one and four more in the third while the Trojans put down 17 in set two alone.
The opening set was tight with Trinity International (17-5) leading just 19-17 when the Trojans scored the final six points of the stanza. In set two, a 9-2 run broke the set open before Trinity International opened the fourth set scoring 22 of the first 26 points, including a 16-1 spurt.
Macey Zinser (Bucyrus, Ohio/Wynford H.S.) had a team-high four kills for Lourdes while
Alli Plasencio (Toledo, Ohio/Central Catholic H.S.) registered 10 digs.
Brianna Torres led the Trojans with 14 kills and 14 digs.
Against host Mount Vernon Nazarene (21-5), the Cougars closed the opening set on an 11-4 run before never trailing in the second set. A late 9-1 run broke a 14-14 tie in that frame. Lourdes led 9-7 in the third before Mount Vernon Nazarene scored nine of the next 10 points to pull in front for good.
Zinser and
Abby Gentile (Blissfield, Mich./Blissfield H.S.) had eight kills each for the Gray Wolves while Plasencio tallied 18 digs.
Jolie Sobb (Toledo, Ohio/Maumee H.S.) added 13 more digs against the Cougars.
Ashley Stumperth led Mount Vernon Nazarene with 17 kills and 11 digs while Molly Galaszewski had a match-high 24 digs.
Lourdes (7-12) will return to WHAC play on Wednesday evening, traveling to Ann Arbor, Mich. to face Concordia (Mich.). First serve is set for 7 p.m. inside Cardinal Fieldhouse.
