Lourdes Opens Road Trip with Win at Siena Heights

Lourdes began its five-game road trip on Wednesday evening, recording a 66-60 victory over Siena Heights inside the SHU Fieldhouse in Adrian, Mich.

"We need to defend better," head coach Dennis Hopson said afterwards.  "We can't have one guy score 28 points against us.  I liked the way we moved the ball on offense.  The shots just weren't falling.  I'd like to see some more points in the point though."

Jackie Harris (Toledo, Ohio/Saint Francis de Sales H.S.) recorded a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds while Joey Holifield (Toledo, Ohio/Cardinal Stritch H.S.) added 14 points.  Clif Snow (Middletown, Ohio/Middletown H.S.) also tallied double figures, scoring 13 points for the Gray Wolves.

Siena Heights (0-4, 0-3 WHAC) jumped in front quickly, taking an early 15-4 lead just over six minutes into the game.  Lourdes responded with a 17-4 run of its own over the next 10 minutes to pull in front before the Saints followed with a 10-1 spurt of their own.  The Gray Wolves closed the half with one final run, 9-2, to pull even at 31 at halftime.

The game was tied at 42 with 14 minutes to play when Lourdes scored 10 of the next 13 points to build a seven-point advantage.  The lead grew to as many as nine in the second half and the Gray Wolves never let the Saints pull closer than four in the final 10 minutes to earn the win.

Lourdes went 14-of-19 (73.7%) from the free throw line on the evening while Siena Heights connected on just 5-of-12 (41.7%) from the charity stripe in what proved to be the difference.

Curtis Bell III led Siena Heights with 28 points, making 11-of-15 shots from the floor.  He also grabbed 12 rebounds for a double-double as the only Saint to tally double figures on the night.

Lourdes (4-1, 2-1) heads to Grand Rapids, Mich. on Saturday evening to battle Cornerstone.  Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. inside Mol Arena.
