Lourdes Rolls Past Adrian for Homecoming Win

Lourdes jumped out to a 12-point lead after one quarter and never looked back, defeating Adrian 67-42 on Homecoming Saturday inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.

"We came out much more focused on the game play today and working as a program to represent Lourdes," head coach Tandy Bradford said afterwards.  "We had a defensive mindset to push us competitively to rebound, hustle, and to sprint to transition to stay steady in our offense.  Right now, we are able to use our depth to make sure we can play at the level we want to be at in March.  I am proud of how they came back to compete to win."

After Adrian scored the game's first four points and held the Gray Wolves off the scoreboard for more than four minutes, Lourdes responded with the next 13 points to take control of the game.  The Bulldogs went more than six minutes without a field goal in the opening period as Lourdes took a 20-8 lead after 10 minutes.  The lead grew to 17, 34-17, at halftime as the Gray Wolves forced 18 first half turnovers by Adrian.

Lourdes scored the first eight points of the second half to increase the lead to 25, 44-19, before the Bulldogs made a run.  An 11-2 spurt before the end of the stanza pulled the guests to within 16.  Neither team would score in the first three minutes of the fourth and Lourdes gradually increased its advantage to earn its second win of the homestand.

Shae Pedroza (Napoleon, Ohio/Napoleon H.S.) led Lourdes with 13 points while Macie Stringfellow (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg H.S.) tallied 12 more for her first collegiate double figure scoring game.  Alex Wolfe (Toledo, Ohio/Notre Dame Academy) chipped in nine points off the bench while pulling down a team-leading six rebounds.

Ashlyn Weatherly led Adrian off the bench with eight points as the Bulldogs played the game as an exhibition contest.

Lourdes (2-1) will take to the road for the first time this season on Wednesday evening as the Gray Wolves travel to Ann Arbor, Mich. to battle Concordia (Mich.) in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference opener.  Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. inside of Cardinal Fieldhouse.
