Lourdes Celebrates Senior Day with Win over Penn State-Shenango

Lourdes honored the three members of its senior class prior to tip-off on Wednesday afternoon before cruising to a 91-46 victory over Penn State-Shenango inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.

"It's always great to leave for Christmas with a win," head coach Tandy Bradford said afterwards.  "The girls love playing at home.  They have worked really hard to focus and execute.  We moved the ball well today and finished, which were two of our goals."

Prior to the game, Lourdes honored seniors Addie Conroy (Cleveland, Ohio/Padua Franciscan H.S.), Logan Ingram (Mount Pleasant, Mich./Mount Pleasant H.S.), and Nadeen Jemaa (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg H.S.).

Lourdes shot 53.3% from the floor, including 11-of-26 (42.3%) from three-point range, and dished out 26 assists while committing just 13 turnovers on the day.

The Gray Wolves started fast, not allowing the Lady Lions to make a field goal in the opening period.  Penn State-Shenango missed all 12 shots from the floor in the opening quarter as Lourdes built a 24-1 lead.  A 17-2 run midway through the second quarter opened up a 51-19 halftime lead.

Lourdes pushed the lead to 40, 63-23, with five minutes to play in the third and led by at least 40 the entire final quarter.

Shae Pedroza (Napoleon, Ohio/Napoleon H.S.) led Lourdes with 21 points on 9-of-13 shooting while Macie Stringfellow (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg H.S.) added 14 more.  Emma Pedroza (Napoleon, Ohio/Napoleon H.S.) chipped in 13 points while Mercedes Wagner (Sherwood, Ohio/Fairview H.S.) contributed 12 points off the bench.

Lourdes finished with a 48-35 advantage on the glass, with Stringfellow pulling down a team-high seven rebounds.  Defensively, the Gray Wolves held Penn-State Shenango (9-4) to 27.9% shooting for the game and forced 21 turnovers.

MiKayla Jumper led the Lady Lions with 17 points.

Lourdes (6-9) will head to Chicago, Ill. on Dec. 29 for its final non-conference game of the season as the Gray Wolves battle Roosevelt.  Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m. EST inside the Goodman Center.
