Lourdes wrapped up the home portion of the 2021-2022 schedule on Saturday afternoon, falling 65-60 to the University of Michigan-Dearborn inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.
The Gray Wolves started fast, racing out to a 20-9 lead after the opening period. Lourdes scored the final seven points of the frame while holding the Wolverines scoreless for the final 4:46.
Michigan-Dearborn scored the first nine points of the second, keeping Lourdes off the scoreboard for more than four minutes, as part of a 20-2 run to start the stanza. The Wolverines limited the Gray Wolves to just five points in the quarter and built a 32-25 lead at intermission.
Lourdes pulled within two, 34-32, early in the third, only to see the Wolverines answer with 10 consecutive points to extend the lead back to double figures. Trailing by 12, 51-39, entering the fourth, Lourdes battled back. The Gray Wolves were within four, 61-57, with less than three minutes to play, but was unable to get any closer down the stretch.
Mercedes Wagner (Sherwood, Ohio/Fairview H.S.) had a double-double by halftime and finished the game with 16 points and 15 rebounds while
Logan Ingram (Mount Pleasant, Mich./Mount Pleasant H.S.) added 13 points.
Shallyn Miley (Bryan, Ohio/Bryan H.S.) also finished the game in double figures, scoring 10 points.
Lourdes finished the game shooting 40.4% from the floor but was unable to make up for 30 turnovers on the afternoon.
Cydney Williams led Michigan-Dearborn (11-16, 9-9 WHAC) with 16 points while Mariah Taylor added 15 more.
Lourdes (10-18, 3-15) begins its final road trip of the season on Wednesday evening, heading to Adrian, Mich. to face Siena Heights. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. inside of SHU Fieldhouse.
