Lourdes completed its homestand in style on Tuesday evening as the Gray Wolves returned to Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play with a 25-21, 25-19, 25-17 sweep against Lawrence Tech inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.
Lourdes hit .367 for the evening with
Sawyer Schafer (Monroeville, Ohio/Monroeville H.S.) dishing out 45 assists in the three sets.
Tomas Olak (Rowville, Australia/Mazenod College) hit .714 with 11 kills while
Harrison McBean (Melbourne, Australia/Northern College of the Arts) added eight kills and swung at a .700 clip.
"We passed and dug the ball well enough to run our offense through the middles tonight," head coach
Greg Reitz said afterwards. "Our pins benefitted greatly from that, and Tomas had a great performance."
The opening set was tight throughout, with Lourdes leading by just one, 20-19, before scoring three straight points to take control. The Gray Wolves did not have any big runs in the second set, scoring three consecutive points just twice, but sided out well and slowly built their lead. The third set was similar to the second, with Lourdes building a 16-10 lead on the way to the sweep.
Jeff Lam (Richmond, B.C./Hugh McRoberts H.S.) had a team-high 17 kills for Lourdes while
Eduardo Ayala (Curitiba, Brazil/Colegio Dom Bosco) added 10 kills. Lam also had a team-leading 11 digs.
Jeffry Fuhrmann paced Lawrence Tech (9-10, 1-8 WHAC) with 11 kills and hit .346.

th-ranked Gray Wolves battle fourth-ranked Grand View inside the Charles S. Johnson Wellness Center in Des Moines, Iowa. First serve is set for 8 p.m. EST.
