Tenth-ranked Lourdes began its five-match trip away from home on Friday evening, suffering a straight sets loss to fourth-ranked Grand View 25-21, 25-18, 25-17 inside of the Charles S. Johnson Wellness Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

"We started off the match well, but didn't maintain our level of execution," head coach
Greg Reitz said afterwards. "We needed a much better night from the service line. We will have to go back to work tomorrow."

The Gray Wolves committed 13 service errors without an ace on the evening and managed just 23 kills, hitting .197 over the three sets.

The opening set was even at 13 when the Vikings went on a 4-1 run to take the lead for good. Lourdes hit .375 in the stanza, but had just eight kills while Grand View tallied 17 kills at a .429 clip. Set two saw the hosts jump out to an 8-2 lead and never look back, limiting the Gray Wolves to a .125 offensive clip. The third set was tied at nine when a 6-1 run by the Vikings put the match out of reach for Lourdes.

Jeff Lam (Richmond, B.C./Hugh McRoberts H.S.) tallied 10 kills to lead the Lourdes offense while
Sawyer Schafer (Monroeville, Ohio/Monroeville H.S.) handed out 18 assists and led the defense with six digs.Â
Harrison McBean (Melbourne, Australia/Northern College of the Arts) registered seven blocks.

Daniel Galili led Grand View (15-1) with 14 kills while Daniel Wong added 12 with an .800 hitting percentage. The Vikings hit .354 for the night.

Lourdes (11-3) will return to action in Des Moines on Saturday with a neutral site match against sixth-ranked Jamestown. First serve is slated for 4 p.m. EST.
