Rochester and No. 1 Lawrence Tech on This Week's Slate for Women's Lacrosse

Upcoming in Gray Wolves Lacrosse: Lourdes returns to the road on Wednesday evening as the Gray Wolves continue Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play at Rochester (Mich.).  The Gray Wolves return home on Saturday afternoon, welcoming the top-ranked team in NAIA, Lawrence Tech, to Wildcat Stadium.

Head Coach Sierra Wagoner: In her second season on the Lourdes sidelines, Sierra Wagoner has a 1-10 (.091) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves and as a collegiate head coach.  Wagoner is the fourth head coach in the program's history.

Series Notes: Lourdes won the only previous meeting against Rochester (Mich.) 22-1 on March 23, 2019 at Wildcat Stadium.  This will be the Gray Wolves first meeting against the Warriors in the state of Michigan.  Lawrence Tech is 10-0 all-time against Lourdes in a series that dates back to March 25, 2014.  The two schools have not met since 2019, a 17-4 Blue Devils win.  Lourdes is 0-2 against Lawrence Tech at Wildcat Stadium.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes led 5-4 at halftime on Wednesday before Bethel (Ind.) scored nine straight goals in the second half on the way to defeating the Gray Wolves 17-7.  Amelia McCourt led the Gray Wolves with three goals.  On Saturday, Siena Heights jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead on the way to a 20-5 victory over Lourdes.  McCourt found the back of the cage four times for the Gray Wolves. 

Scouting Rochester (Mich.): The Warriors are looking for their first victory of the season after falling 23-0 at Lawrence Tech last Wednesday.  Rochester is still looking for its first goal of the season as well.  Rebekah Sewell has played every minute in goal for the Warriors this season.

Scouting Lawrence Tech: The Blue Devils remained undefeated on the season after scoring an 18-4 win at Bethel (Ind.) on Saturday afternoon.  Lawrence Tech hosts Concordia (Mich.) on Wednesday and Life on Friday before visiting Lourdes.  Kady Waits leads Lawrence Tech with 18 goals and 19 points on the year while Abbey Smentowski has added 13 goals.  Gabi Mitchell has a team-leading nine assists.  In goal, Anabelle Acluche sports a 6.24 goals against averaged and a .524 save percentage.

McCourt Has Big Week: Amelia McCourt was involved in two-thirds of Lourdes 12 goals this past week.  She scored seven times and added an assist in the two games.  The freshman leads the Gray Wolf offense with 14 goals and 17 points on the year.

Getting the Offense Involved: The Gray Wolves have had eight different goal scorers this season through the first four games of the year.  Four players have multiple assists for Lourdes, led by Amelia McCourt, Sarah Przyojski, and Kayla Dillinger, each of whom have three.

Winning Draws: Lourdes has won 55 of the 98 draws controls this season after winning just 25 the entire 2021 campaign.  Amelia McCourt leads the way with 29 draw controls individually while Sarah Przyojski has added 13 more for the Gray Wolves.

Making the Most of Shot Attempts: Lourdes has been accurate with its shooting this season.  The Gray Wolves have 94 total shot attempts, with 70 of them on goal (74.5%).  Lourdes has scored on more than half of its shots on goal as well, with 37 attempts finding the back of the cage.

Stepping Up on Defense: Emiliana Taylor has led Lourdes on the back line this year.  Taylor has 12 ground balls, giving her 54 for her career.  She has moved into a tie with Brianna Budd (2016-2019) for 10th place on the Gray Wolves' career ground ball list.  Taylor also has six caused turnovers this year in the defensive half of the field.

Leen Makes Collegiate Debut: Bella Leen stepped onto the field for the first time as a Gray Wolf on Saturday at Siena Heights.  

Captains: Emiliana Taylor and Sarah Przyojski are serving as the team captains for Lourdes during the 2022 season.

Following the Saturday's game with Lawrence Tech, the Gray Wolves have just one home game remaining ... Lourdes is outshooting its opposition 94-90 ... the Gray Wolves also have an 82-56 edge in ground balls this year ... Jordin Rawski has scored eight goals on just 13 shot attempts ... Rawski also leads Lourdes with 15 ground balls this year.
