After Union (Ky.) scored six runs in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings, Lourdes bounced back with a pair of runs in the ninth to defeat the Bulldogs 8-6 on Tuesday afternoon at Jerry Carry Stadium in Barbourville, Ky.
 
"It was great to come away with a win today," head coach Josh Bradford said afterwards.  "Jagger gave us yet another great start and Bryce gave us the big hit early to extend our lead.  We had some trouble closing it out, but it was great to see us continue to compete through extra innings.  Austin was really good on the mound.  We got big hits by Steve, Joey and Ryan in the ninth to get the ball back to Austin to close it out."
 
Lourdes jumped out to a four-run lead in the second inning.  Steve Haugh (Waterville, Ohio/Anthony Wayne H.S.) scampered home on a wild pitch for the game's first run before Bryce Gargus (South Haven, Mich./South Haven H.S.) blasted a three-run home run.
 
Gabe Scott (Curtis, Ohio/Genoa H.S.) made it 5-0 Gray Wolves in the fourth with a RBI single that plated Josh Hare (Simcoe, Ont./Holy Trinity H.S.), who had reached on an error to lead off the inning.  Caleb Dugan (Lima, Ohio/Lima Senior H.S.) had a RBI hit in the sixth to score Ryan Jagodzinski (Perrysburg, Ohio/Rossford H.S.), giving Lourdes a 6-0 lead.
 
Jagger Geck (Algonac, Mich./Algonac H.S.) was in cruise control on the hill, scattering just five hits and walking two while fanning four in six shutout innings of work on the hill.
 
Union (3-7) tied the game in the seventh, sending 10 batters to the plate while scoring six times to force extra innings.
 
The game went into the ninth where Haugh doubled and Joey Oehlers (Lambertville, Mich./Bedford H.S.) followed with a two-bagger of his own to put the Gray Wolves in front.  Jagodzinski also had a RBI double in the inning, making it 8-6.
 
Austin Ford (Chesterfield, Mich./Anchor Bay H.S.), who came on in the seventh to record the final out, tossed scoreless eighth and ninth frames to earn the win (1-0), striking out three without allowing a hit.
 
Dugan went 3-for-4 to lead the Gray Wolves' 12-hit attack while Scott, Haugh, Oehlers, and Jagodzinski all had multi-hit games as well.
 
Lourdes (8-4) will now head to Blue Mountain, Miss. for a Thursday doubleheader against Blue Mountain.  First pitch in game one of the doubleheader is set for 4 p.m. EST at the BMC Sportsplex.
