Lourdes used a 10-run fifth inning in game one on Friday to help earn a doubleheader split with Cleary at Mercy Field. The Gray Wolves won the opener 10-7 before falling in game two 10-3.
"We were fortunate to get a split today," head coach
Josh Bradford said afterwards. "Our offense wasn't very good all day. We need to turn that around and have better at bats moving forward. Jagger (Geck) gave us a great start in game one which helped us get the win."
The opener was scoreless until the bottom of the fifth when Lourdes sent 15 batters to the plate.
Josh Hare's (Simcoe, Ont./Holy Trinity H.S.) RBI single put the Gray Wolves on the scoreboard.
Brad Ammons (Holland, Ohio/Springfield H.S.) followed with a run-scoring hit and

Ryan Jagodzinski (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg H.S.) and
Matt McEachern (Burlington, Ont./Hayden Secondary) both had RBI hits in the fifth while
Steve Haugh (Waterville, Ohio/Anthony Wayne H.S.) drew a bases loaded walk. Hare added his second single of the inning to close the scoring in the frame, driving home two more to push the lead to 10.
Jagger Geck (Algonac, Mich./Algonac H.S.) carried his shutout into the sixth when the Cougars responded with three runs. Geck went 5.1 innings to earn the win (2-0), yielding just five hits while striking out two.
Cleary added four more runs in the top of the seventh and had the tying run at the plate before
Braden Zuber (Payne, Ohio/Wayne Trace H.S.) came on to earn the save.
In game two, Cleary (18-18, 6-8 WHAC) started its offense quick, scoring three times in the top of the first before adding another in the second. The Cougars increased the lead to 8-0 after plating a pair of runs in both the fifth and sixth innings.
Lourdes finally broke through on the scoreboard in the bottom of the eighth. Ammons doubled and scored on Haugh's sacrifice fly.
After the Cougars responded with two in the top of the ninth, the Gray Wolves added two final runs in the bottom of the frame. A groundout and a RBI single by
