Lourdes took to the road for the first time this season on Friday evening, falling to Indiana East 25-17, 25-16, 25-18 on the opening night of play in the IU East Invitational held at Lingle Court in Richmond, Ind.

The Red Wolves held the Gray Wolves to just .018 hitting on the evening, as Lourdes managed just 25 kills for the night.Â

"This was a tough match for us," head coach
Greg Reitz said afterwards. "We didn't serve and pass as well as our opponent and that really impacted our scoring. We will try to fix some things when we return to the court tomorrow."

With the opening set tied at 15, Indiana East scored the next six points to take control. Eight straight points midway through the second set allowed the Red Wolves to build a 2-0 lead in the match. Lourdes led 18-16 in the third before the hosts scored the final nine points of the match to secure the sweep.

McKenna Hall (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview H.S.) led the way for Lourdes offensively with nine kills while
Alli Plasencio (Toledo, Ohio/Central Catholic H.S.) paced the defense with 11 digs.

Jessica Swimm had 14 kills for Indiana East (8-2) while Ella Bickel picked up 21 digs.

Lourdes (2-3) will close out action at the IU East Invitational on Saturday afternoon, facing Great Lakes Christian. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
