Lourdes took to the road on Wednesday evening, dropping a straight sets match to Lawrence Tech 25-18, 25-22, 25-16 inside the Ridler Field House in Southfield, Mich.
"This was a tough one for us," head coach
Greg Reitz said afterwards. "We struggled to find a rhythm and they didn't. We will get back to work to prepare for our next match."
Lawrence Tech (10-9, 3-4 WHAC) committed just nine attack errors all evening, hitting .286 for the match, while limiting the Gray Wolves to just a .106 hitting efficiency.
In the opening set, the Blue Devils held Lourdes to a .024 hitting percentage and never trailed, using an early 10-4 run to take control. In the second, the Gray Wolves were in front 15-12 before five straight points by the hosts flipped the lead for good. Lourdes had just six kills in the final stanza as Lawrence Tech went on a 14-5 run to complete the sweep.
Cammy Smith (Mansfield, Ohio/Ontario H.S.) had a team-high seven kills and hit .545 to lead the Gray Wolves while
McKenna Hall (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview H.S.) added six kills and 12 digs.
Alli Plasencio (Toledo, Ohio/Central Catholic H.S.) had a team-high 15 digs.
Lindsay Hubler had 13 kills to lead Lawrence Tech while Madeline Hudson added 12 more without an error to hit .600 for the match. Rachel Rochon had 21 digs.
Lourdes (7-8, 3-5) remains on the road Friday evening as the Gray Wolves travel to Adrian, Mich. to face Siena Heights. First serve is set for 7 p.m. inside the SHU Fieldhouse.
