Lourdes wrapped up a brief two-match road trip on Friday evening, dropping a 26-24, 25-14, 25-13 match to Siena Heights inside the SHU Fieldhouse in Adrian, Mich.
The Gray Wolves hit just .076 for the night while the Saints connected at a .264 clip with 45 kills in the three stanzas.
"We battled well in set one and had our chances, but that wasn't enough to change the match," head coach
Greg Reitz said afterwards.
Lourdes led 20-18 in the opening set and the stanza was tied at 24 before the Saints scored the final two points to take the early lead. The Gray Wolves trailed 11-10 in the second set before Siena Heights closed on a 14-4 run. An 8-1 run by the Saints early in the third allowed the hosts to close out the match.
Abby Gentile (Blissfield, Mich./Blissfield H.S.),
McKenna Hall (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview H.S.), and
Macey Zinser (Bucyrus, Ohio/Wynford H.S.) each had six kills to lead the Lourdes offense, accounting for 18 of the team's 24 total kills.
Hall added 11 digs to lead the way defensively along with
Alli Plasencio (Toledo, Ohio/Central Catholic H.S.), who also had 11 digs.
Devyne Eisenhauer led Siena Heights (12-6, 8-1 WHAC) with 13 kills and 10 digs, hitting .435 offensively.
Lourdes (7-9, 3-6) closes out the first half of Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play on Saturday afternoon, hosting the University of Michigan-Dearborn. First serve is set for 1 p.m. inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.
