Fast Start Pushes Lourdes to Sixth Straight Victory

Lourdes made its six five three-point attempts on Wednesday evening as the Gray Wolves ran past Siena Heights 82-62 inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center for their sixth victory.
 
After Siena Heights scored the game's first basket, Lourdes scored the next 14 points on the way to a 19-4 run less than five minutes into the contest.  Little Anderson (Toledo, Ohio/Cardinal Stritch H.S.), Charles Swain (Cincinnati, Ohio/North College Hill H.S.), and Jackie Harris (Toledo, Ohio/Saint Francis de Sales H.S.) all hit two triples each during the spurt.
 
"The energy and toughness were both there tonight," head coach Dennis Hopson said afterwards.  "I liked the pace that we played at we rebounded the ball well."
 
A 10-0 run by the Saints allowed Siena Heights to climb back within six, 29-23, with five minutes to play before halftime, but Lourdes responded with nine of the next 11 points to push the lead back to double figures for good.  The Gray Wolves took a 41-29 lead into the locker room.
 
In the second half, Lourdes gradually continued to extend its lead, pushing the advantage to as many as 27, 72-45, following a Joey Holifield (Toledo, Ohio/Cardinal Stritch H.S.) tip-in with 7:35 to play. Siena Heights would make a small run late, but would never get any closer than 18 down the stretch.
 
Anderson finished with a game-high 21 points as well as four assists while Harris had 16 points.  Holifield finished with 13 points and a team-high nine rebounds.  Lourdes shot 48.5% from the floor for the evening.
 
Delano Williams led Siena Heights (5-15, 2-10 WHAC) witih 15 points while Colin Nutter added 13 more off the bench.
 
Lourdes (15-5, 9-3) remains home on Saturday afternoon as the Gray Wolves entertain Cornerstone.  Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. inside the Ebeid Rec Center.
