Lourdes closed out its three-match road trip on Wednesday evening, dropping a 2-0 decision to Indiana Tech at Warrior Athletic Field in Fort Wayne, Ind.
The Warriors took the lead less than 15 minutes into the contest on a goal by Douglas Appiah and carried the 1-0 advantage late into the opening stanza. Kodai Kobayashi doubled the led for Indiana Tech with a goal just 3:26 before halftime.
Lourdes had chances, outshooting the Warriors 6-4 in the opening 45 minutes, but was unable to find the back of the net.
"We came out a little flat in the first half and Indiana Tech punished us, like good teams do," head coach
Matt Johnson said afterwards.
The Gray Wolves played the final 22 minutes down a player following a red card but had a chance to get on the scoreboard late. Lourdes was awarded a penalty kick but was unable to convert.
"We responded well in the second half, even after going down a mand we kept fighting and created some good chances, including the penalty kick," Johnson added. "Unfortunately being down two goals and a player was too much to overcome tonight."
Philip Kooper made six saves in goal for Indiana Tech (5-3-4, 4-0-2 WHAC) as the Gray Wolves outshot the Warriors 12-7 for the match.
Alex Brock (Sylvania, Ohio/Southview H.S.) made four stops for the Gray Wolves.
"We need to take the lesson and start with more intensity and focus on Saturday at home against an Aquinas team that's playing very well right now," Johnson concluded.
Lourdes (2-6-4, 2-3-1) returns home for four of its final five contests, beginning on Saturday evening as the Gray Wolves welcome Aquinas to Wildcat Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
