Lourdes won the opening set on Wednesday evening inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center, but Concordia (Mich.) rebounded to take the next three, defeating the Gray Wolves 20-25, 25-18, 25-18, 25-18 to open up the second half of Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play.

An early five-point run in the opening set gave Lourdes a lead it would not relinquish, and the Gray Wolves held off a late 5-0 run by the Cardinals to take the early lead in the match. An 8-0 run by the Cardinals in set two put the visitors in front 15-8 on the way to evening the match.

Lourdes led set three 7-6 when Concordia (14-8, 5-6 WHAC) scored the next eight points to take the lead and the Gray Wolves were unable to get any closer than three the rest of the set. In the fourth, Lourdes committed 11 attack errors, hitting -.023 as Concordia put the match away with a 9-2 run late.

Kylee McBride (Peoria, Ariz./Mountain Ridge H.S.) led Lourdes with 19 kills while
McKenna Hall (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview H.S.) added 10 more to go along with 16 digs and four service aces.

Arleena Willer (Perrysburg, Ohio/Toledo Christian H.S.) picked up a team-high 17 digs while
Jolie Sobb (Toledo, Ohio/Maumee H.S.) added 13 more.Â
Katey Stakolich (Parma, Ohio/Normandy H.S.) had 12 digs to go along with 26 assists.

Julianna Weems led Concordia with 14 kills and hit .609 on the night while Kayla Peters added 12 kills and 18 digs.

Lourdes (2-14, 2-9) heads to Grand Rapids, Mich. on Friday evening to battle Aquinas. The first serve is set for 7 p.m. inside the Sturrus Sports & Fitness Center.
